Job summary

The University of Virginia’s Department of Facilities Management is seeking a detail‑oriented and analytical Finance Associate to support financial operations for a diverse and mission‑driven organization.

In this role, you will serve as a key partner in monitoring financial performance, analyzing data across major operational programs, and ensuring the accuracy of transactions in UVA’s financial and project management systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience not required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial activity across funds, projects, and programs, ensuring accuracy, appropriate coding, and alignment with University and departmental policy.
• Monitor financial performance by reviewing account balances, identifying variances or anomalies, and providing insights to support operational decisions.
• Perform corrections and adjustments within the University’s financial systems, maintaining a high standard of data integrity.
• Develop and maintain financial records and documentation to support internal controls and audit requirements.
• Prepare reports, dashboards, and financial analyses that support leadership decision‑making and operational planning.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot accounting issues, streamline processes, and recommend workflow improvements.
• Participate in training sessions and regular meetings to stay current on evolving policies, procedures, and financial system enhancements.
• Other duties may be assigned to support the mission of Facilities Management.
