Job summary

Cengage Group is recruiting an AI Automation Engineer for Finance & Accounting in the United States. The role focuses on applying AI to automate AP/AR, reconciliation, and financial reporting, partnering with Controllers, FP&A, and Internal Audit to deliver audit-ready, control-compliant solutions.

The ideal candidate has production automation experience, a strong finance background, and expertise in Python, SQL, LLMs, and document AI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years in finance automation, RPA, or finance software development.
• Strong Python and SQL, with production automation experience.
• Experience with LLMs and document AI (OCR, invoice extraction).
• Knowledge of accounting principles, GL structures, and close processes.
• Experience with NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Workday Financials.
• Understanding of SOX controls, audit evidence requirements, and financial compliance.
• Excellent communication with Controllers, FP&A, and Internal Audit.

Responsibilities

• Automate AP/AR processing including invoice capture, matching, and approval.
• Build reconciliation automations across GL, bank, credit card, and intercompany accounts.
• Develop expense report processing, policy compliance checking, and anomaly detection systems.
• Create procurement automations for PO generation, vendor onboarding, and spend categorization.
• Implement AI-powered financial close acceleration and journal entry automation.
• Ensure all finance automations meet SOX, internal controls, and audit documentation requirements.
• Track manual hours eliminated, cost savings realized, and processing time reductions.
• Partner with FP&A on ROI reporting and business case development.
