Job summary

Early Learning Coalition of Brevard County is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee the organization’s accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll postings, and general ledger maintenance.

You will ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls, manage bank reconciliations, cash flow, and grant accounting, and supervise staff while coordinating with leadership to safeguard assets and optimize financial reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/business management or closely related field.
  • Two or more years nonprofit and/or state contract experience with budgets over $1 million.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience.

50%

  • Oversee and review accounts receivable.
  • Oversee ACH uploads into bank, move cash in between linked back accounts to ensure positive cash balances in the various bank accounts, upload positive pay checks into banking online system.
  • Manage disbursement of funds to participating agencies, organizations, providers, vendors, and employees in compliance with policies and procedures. Includes disbursement of electronic payments through secured bank websites.
  • Ensure all bank accounts are reconciled in a timely manner and reviewed and signed by those authorized to do so.
  • Oversee the credit card reconciliation, procurement and posting of all transactions.
  • Accounts payable/receivable: Review and assist with the positing of accounts payable, journal entries, and receivables.
  • Oversee review of provider reimbursement payment details to ensure providers are paid appropriately by creating pivot tables for review of payment variances and then uploading the related accounts payable import into accounting system.
  • Review and follow-up on aged receivables and payables on a monthly basis.
  • Review and post payroll and entries in accounting software ensuring correct general ledger and funding codes are used.

Travel Reimbursement: Ensure accurate reimbursements to staff.

Purchase Orders: Ensure all orders and contracts are rendered timely with appropriate authorization and documentation.

  • Responsible for the completion and/or delegation of all State, Federal, agency, or local reports and ensures completion in a timely manner.
  • Track all non-DEL funds. Work with outreach/or other departments to ensure proper spend down of grant funds.

  • Provide technical assistance and resources for problem solving, organize team meetings, and coordinates training for all staff in relation to finance operations and updates.
  • Manage general ledger updates and entries.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership in maintaining internal controls procedures to maximize safeguarding of Coalition assets.
  • Establish and maintain a fiscal calendar for compliance and reporting purposes.

15%

  • Manage and processes all tax filing-related reports.
  • Assist in the preparation and processing of all monitoring and audit reports/preparations.
  • Seek and attend professional development training to remain current in financial and accounting processes.
  • Submit assistance request tickets to help desk EFS Mod as applicable for the Finance Department.

Customer service: Communicate professionally with ELCBC staff, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure follow-through on financial questions or issues.

  • Regulatory compliance: Ensure fiscal compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, particularly for grants

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of: accounting principles and audit preparation for nonprofit organizations; accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, and accounts receivable actions; accounts payables. As well as knowledge of assets and depreciation Experience with financial accounting software (knowledge of Abila MIP is a plus).

Skilled in: strong oral and written communication with an emphasis on the ability to communicate financial information with personnel at all levels; excellent organizational skills; adapting to changing priorities and situations; high-level of computer proficiency; maintaining confidentiality on all private matters; principles of supervision, organization and administration.

Ability to: rapidly and accurately enter and retrieve computerized data; create, maintain, review, and analyze financial reports and statements; work in an environment that has frequent interruptions; understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; analyze and interpret data; learn functionality of new equipment and systems; prioritize multiple work assignments; use database software, e-mail, spreadsheets, and word processing software.

Required Licensure/Certification

Must possess a valid Florida’s driver’s license and current automobile liability insurance policy.

A mandatory drug screening and background check will be performed on the successful application.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting/business management or closely related field.

Two (2) or more years related nonprofit and/or state contract experience with budgets over $1 million.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting principles (GAAP) and Internal controls.

Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience.

An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements above as approved by the Executive Director.
