Job summary

Midwest Star Group is seeking a Director of Accounting and Finance to lead its accounting and finance function across multiple entities. You will drive GAAP-based reporting, budgeting, cash flow analysis, and strategic financial planning to support leadership decisions.

The role requires hands-on leadership, a deep accounting foundation, and a track record of building scalable processes. Collaboration with operations and senior management will be central to delivering actionable insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or advanced credentials preferred.
• Strong accounting and financial analysis background with progressive responsibility in leadership roles.
• Demonstrated experience with QuickBooks Online.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial statement presentation.
• Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, flux analysis, cash flow analysis, and reporting.
• Strong process improvement mindset with a track record of efficiency gains.
• Ability to identify root causes, solve problems, and implement practical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the accounting and finance function, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Manage and improve accounting systems, workflows, and reporting structures.
• Own and maintain records in accordance with GAAP and ensure timely, accurate financial information.
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, including annual budgets and reforecasts.
• Perform flux and variance analysis, identify drivers, issues, and opportunities for management.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts, working capital analysis, and liquidity trends with actionable recommendations.
• Partner with operations and leadership to improve reporting visibility and accountability.
• Identify process breakdowns and implement improvements to timeliness and reliability.
• Support audit readiness, lender reporting, and external reporting needs as required.
• Oversee balance sheet integrity, revenue/expense classification, accruals, and fixed assets.
• Develop, refine, and document accounting policies and controls to support growth.
