Job summary

Fannie Mae is seeking a Finance - Accounting - Associate to analyze business transactions and maintain records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and tax.

You will document financial information, prepare journal entries, and support month-end close in a large corporate setting, ensuring internal controls and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • CPA or CPA Eligible.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Public accounting, consulting and/or financial services experience.
  • Previous operational accounting experience in a large company setting.
  • Strong understanding of the monthly accounting close process.
  • Ability to resolve issues and exceptions professionally.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to interact and collaborate with employees at all levels, including management.
  • Shows curiosity and adaptability in learning and responsibly applying new technologies, including artificial intelligence, to reimagine how we work.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, document, and maintain financial information from relevant finance and accounting sources.
  • Prepare and review journal entries and supporting documentation in accordance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Analyze business and financial information to determine appropriate accounting treatment and record results with support from team and manager.
  • Analyze financial results to ensure accuracy and support business decisions.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including reporting and account certifications.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Develop reports to document assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, and/or other financial results.
  • Execute accounting and financial operations processes and related controls.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, data quality, and process effectiveness.

Job Description

As a valued colleague on our operational accounting team, you will assist in analyzing business transactions and financial information to determine and maintain records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, and other financial activities.
