Job summary

Montana Precision Products in Butte, MT is seeking a Final Inspection Technician to perform visual and dimensional inspections per final inspection plans and work instructions. You will identify nonconforming products, support quality systems, and document NCRs.

Reading blueprints and travelers, passing inspection exams, and maintaining calibration of measurement tools are required. Night shift 4:30pm-3:00am with 10% differential; initial training on day shift (6am-4:30pm, Mon-Thu).

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED required.
• Able to pass vision test and maintain vision requirements.
• Able to lift up to approximately 25 pounds; may lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• Legal Authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to read and interpret customer requirements such as specifications and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand blueprints, travelers/routers, and work instructions.
• Pass Inspection exam and maintain certification.
• Inspect and maintain operator maintenance on equipment needed for Final Inspection.
• Set up machines according to work instructions to assemble, part mark, rivet, polish, and inspect products to meet fabrication drawing requirements.
• Perform final assembly processes such as riveting, threaded insert installation, part marking, assembly hardware kitting, clean room duties and closure of assemblies in accordance with work instructions.
• Inspect products and required paperwork for conformance including: part mark, surface finishes, part or assembly configuration, First Article Inspection, routers and associated documents.
• Inspect characteristics using measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, go/no-go gauges.
• Maintain and review calibration of measuring equipment.
• Identify and initiate action on nonconforming product and close out nonconformance reports (NCRs) as appropriate.
• Work under minimal supervision to plan and schedule workload according to production schedule to meet manufacturing needs.
• Maintain a clean work area and take proper care of tools and equipment.
• Maintain final inspection logs and other required documents as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary:

Schedule:

Night (2nd) Shift: 4:30pm-3:00am, Monday-Thursday - includes 10% shift differential

All Initial Training will occur on Day Shift ( 6am-4:30pm, Monday-Thursday)

• May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, smoke (Not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels).

Requirements

• Ability to pass vision test and maintain vision requirements
• High School Graduate/GED
• Able to lift up to approximately 25 pounds. May occasionally lift 50 pounds (with assistance)
• Legal Authorization to work in the United States
• Ability to speak, read and write English

Desired Characteristics:

• No active disciplinary issues
• Excellent attendance and punctuality history
• 1 year manufacturing experience preferred
• Attention to detail and hand/eye coordination skills
• Experience in measuring devices including micrometers, calipers, go/no-go gauges, and CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines)
• Experience reading and interpreting customer requirements such as specifications and engineering drawings
• Experience with generating NCRs (a person who has achieved MRB Disposition Authority at MPP is preferred)
• Ability to complete paperwork accurately, legibly, and timely
• Demonstrated flexibility with changing priorities
