Job summary

Vertex Energy Inc. is hiring a skilled Filter Driver to collect used oil filters on a fixed route. You will drive a straight truck, load/unload filters, and maintain documentation while delivering excellent customer service.

The role requires a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement, a valid DOT medical card, and FMCSA Clearinghouse registration. You will work safely, train as needed, and have opportunities for bonus earnings.

Qualifications

  • Two years of related driving experience or equivalent

  • Fluent reading/writing in English

Responsibilities

  • Operate company trucks to pickup, deliver, and transport used oil filters
  • Load and unload used oil filters from client and company locations
  • Complete manifests, Bills of Lading and e-logs accurately
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment
  • Provide outstanding service during delivery and pickup
  • Assist in route expansion and seek new customers
  • Follow PPE and safety regulations; comply with DOT rules
  • Maintain required certifications and keep vehicle clean and in good condition
  • Communicate with office and supervisor regularly via mobile
  • Crosstrain as needed for used oil route driving

Position Summary

The Filter Driver will be responsible for performing a variety of routine and complex transportation tasks related to the collection and transportation of used oil filters in support of the Operations Department. The role involves driving a straight truck on a predetermined route, stopping at various customer sites to collect used oil filters.

Key responsibilities include hauling, loading, and unloading used oil filters while maintaining accurate records and providing excellent customer service.

Sign On Bonus: $6000 to be paid over the first 12 months of employment

Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions
  • Operate company trucks for the pickup, delivery, and transportation of used oil filters.
  • Load and unload used oil filters from customer and company locations using a straight truck.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately, including manifests, Bills of lading, and e-logs.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment; report any defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
  • Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
  • Actively seek new customers and assist in route expansion.
  • Adhere to all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements set by the company.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of industry-standard safety, health, and environmental practices, including compliance with DOT rules and regulations.
  • Maintain all required certifications as required by DOT, OSHA, and company safety programs.
  • Keep company property clean and in good condition.
  • Perform duties in compliance with company policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Undergo periodic industrial safety training as mandated by regulatory authorities and the company.
  • Maintain regular communication with the office and supervisor via mobile communication.
  • Crosstrain as a used oil route driver, if required.
  • Warehouse and facility housekeeping responsibilities as needed or assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications:

  • Class B CDL and air brake endorsement required.
  • Valid DOT medical card and physical form required.
  • Must be registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Clearinghouse.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 2 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong background in commercial driving, with knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • A good driving record is required.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety rules, operating manuals, and procedure documents.
  • Ability to complete the required DOT paperwork.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
