Atrium Health's Hugh Chatham Health Orthopedics in Jonesville, NC is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our orthopedic team. The role includes clinical exams, surgical first-assist, and outpatient clinic responsibilities under physician supervision.

The position offers full-time rotation across clinic, operating room, and inpatient rounding with opportunities for CME reimbursement, generous PTO, and career growth within Advocate Health, a large nonprofit health system.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred.
• Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, NCCPA certification.
• Current American Heart Association or Red Cross BLS is required to start.
• Current DEA and DPS registrations for prescription writing are required to start.

Responsibilities

• Participates in team-focused patient care by conducting examinations and diagnostic/therapeutic evaluations in OR and clinic settings.
• Provide first-assist surgical support on designated OR days and outpatient clinics.
• Under physician supervision, deliver direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive care to patients.
• Collaborate with on-site cast and radiology tech support; join an orthopedic team of 3 APPs and 3 physicians.

Position Overview

• Participates in team focused patient care by means of patient examinations augmented by diagnostic and therapeutic evaluations/ interventions in the medical and/or surgical theatres of health care. The clinician functions under the regulatory mandate from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution.
• Provide first-assist surgical support on designated OR days, with scheduled outpatient clinic responsibilities.
• Under physician supervision, deliver direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive care to patients.
• The clinician will work with cast tech and radiology tech support on-site. Orthopedic team including 3 APPs and 3 Physicians, with specialties on-site including orthopedic joint replacement, sports medicine, foot and ankle, and hand/upper extremity.

Hugh Chatham Health Orthopedics Jonesville

Additional clinic location in Elkin, NC but this position will primarily be Jonesville.

Hospital: 180 Parkwood Drive Elkin, NC 28621 (~5 minute drive from Jonesville).

Care setting (inpatient, outpatient, hybrid):

Full Time Rotation of responsibilities include clinic, operating room, inpatient rounding, and APP call coverage as needed.

Physician Assistant (PA) Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred.
• Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, Certified by NCCPA
• Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to start.
• Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing is required to start.

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Requirements

• Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program, Master's degree or higher required.
• Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license.
• Board certified as a Nurse Practitioner by AANP or ANCC
• Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to start.
• Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing is required to start.
• RNFA Certification is required to start.
