Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson’s Asheville Construction Management Team seeks a Utility Transportation Technician II to apply standard inspection procedures for multiple NCDOT projects, coordinating installation and relocation of utilities regionally in Division 11. Strong communication with contractors and public is essential.

The role is full-time and field-based, requiring endurance in outdoor conditions and adherence to plans, specs, and codes. TN visa support not available.

Qualifications

• Must have the ability to effectively communicate with contractors and the public.
• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Responsibilities

• Review NCDOT Utility By Other Plans.
• Coordinate and oversee relocation/installation of utilities (wet, dry, underground, overhead).
• Inspect and document utility contractor operations for NCDOT projects in Division 11.
• Review NCDOT encroachments and complex utility plans.
• Review contractor traffic control plans.
• Perform routine material testing.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items.
• Maintain record documents (certifications, testing, daily diaries).
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
