Job summary

RMS Energy in the United States seeks an experienced transformer test technician to support design, commissioning, and servicing across utilities, commercial, and government clients. You will perform testing, troubleshoot protections, and document results.

The role requires 5–10 years of transformer testing experience, travel up to 80% across the continental U.S., and a high school diploma. Our team emphasizes safety, growth, and hands-on problem solving in fast-paced field environments.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of transformer testing or services.
  • Experience with transformer oil work and assembly (including degassing and oil processing).
  • Strong understanding of Load Tap Changers.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic digital platforms.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, scopes, and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience preparing units for disposal following environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform transformer testing and troubleshooting, including Megger, TTR, SFRA, Power Factor, and Core Ground.
  • Support passivation testing and verification of transformer accessories.
  • Test alarms and system protections in transformers.
  • Troubleshoot control wiring issues and support repair efforts.
  • Follow OEM, utility, and end-user testing specifications.
  • Accurately document test results and generate customer reports.
  • Operate industrial and construction equipment safely.
  • Maintain and inspect tools, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Adhere to all company safety and environmental protocols (especially spill containment).
  • Follow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areas.
