Job summary

ConsultNet Technology Services and Solutions is seeking a Field Tester I to support the testing, deployment, and validation of autonomous vehicle platforms in real-world environments. This contract role operates manual and autonomous equipment and executes structured test procedures.

The position requires hands-on experience with field testing, documenting results, and assisting engineers with issue reproduction and verification.

Qualifications

• Exposure to field testing, equipment operation, technical support, vehicle testing, military operations, or a related hands-on technical role.
• Experience operating heavy equipment, industrial vehicles, construction or agricultural equipment, robotics platforms, or similar machinery.
• Ability to safely operate equipment while following structured procedures and test instructions.
• Experience identifying, documenting, and communicating mechanical, electrical, software, or operational issues.
• Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, computer, or vehicle systems.
• Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable using computers, tablets, diagnostic applications, and technical software.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineers, operators, customers, and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing test priorities.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather, terrain, noise, dust, and operating conditions.
• Ability to travel frequently and work nonstandard hours as required by testing and deployment schedules.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet applicable vehicle-operation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual, remote-controlled, semi-autonomous, and autonomous vehicle platforms during field testing.
• Execute test plans, procedures, and operational scenarios to validate system functionality and performance.
• Perform vehicle inspections, system setup, calibration, configuration, and pre-test readiness checks.
• Monitor vehicle and system behavior and identify performance, operational, or safety issues.
• Document test conditions, results, failures, observations, and supporting evidence.
• Collect and organize system logs, photographs, videos, measurements, and other test data.
• Reproduce reported issues and support troubleshooting and root cause investigations.
• Perform regression testing to validate software updates, corrective actions, and system improvements.
• Support installation, inspection, and basic maintenance of sensors, computers, communications equipment, and autonomous system components.
• Provide feedback on system usability, vehicle performance, and operational effectiveness.
• Support customer demonstrations, field deployments, acceptance testing, and operational readiness activities.
• Communicate test results, issues, safety concerns, and equipment needs to engineering and field teams.
• Maintain testing equipment, vehicles, tools, and work areas in safe, operational condition.
