Job summary

Komatsu is seeking a highly motivated Field Technician - Underground Mining to support customers operating underground mining equipment across assigned territories. The role emphasizes mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting with travel to customer sites and the ability to work both above and below ground in underground environments.

• Associate Degree in Diesel Technology or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work.
• Clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair Komatsu underground mining equipment with a focus on hard rock underground operations.
• Provide timely and effective repairs of machine components in the field.
• Complete assigned jobs to meet flat rate times and quality metrics.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures for KEC and customers.
• Prepare and process paperwork (work orders, parts orders, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately.
• Diagnose problems, provide repair recommendations, and verify repairs.

Job Overview

Komatsu is seeking a highly motivated Field Technician - Underground Mining to support customers operating underground mining equipment throughout Arizona and other assigned territories. This position plays a critical role in maintaining equipment availability and providing exceptional customer support at active mining operations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills and have experience working on heavy equipment in mining, construction, or related industries. This position involves frequent travel to customer sites and requires the ability to work both above and below ground in underground mining environments.

This job requires a candidate to be based in Tucson or Phoenix AZ.

Equipment Supported

Technicians may work on a variety of underground mining equipment, including:

• Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) loaders
• Underground loaders
• Bolters
• Auxiliary underground mining support equipment
• Additional underground hard-rock mining equipment as assigned

Key Job Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair various Komatsu equipment with a main focus on hard rock underground
• Timely, effective repairs of machine components in the Field
• Complete assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate times and re-do metric.
• Work safely and follow all KEC/Customer safety policies and procedures.
• Complete related paperwork and access databases require to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely.
• Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
• Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision.
• Ability to provide accurate quotes and pricing estimates to the customer.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs.
• Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
• Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Certified to operate a forklift and/or manlift.
• May be required to complete a DOT physical.
• Required to complete MSHA surface and underground certification.
• May be required to complete respirator certification.
