Job summary

SEVO Industrial Fire Protection is seeking Field Technicians at multiple experience levels to join our Field Services team. You will install, inspect, test, commission, maintain, and service fire alarm, detection, and special-hazards systems at customer sites across the United States.

Candidates will have hands-on technical aptitude, safety focus, and strong communication skills, with the ability to travel regionally and nationwide (up to 90%).

Qualifications

• Experience in fire alarm, low-voltage, electrical, fire protection, or related field work; open to multiple experience levels.
• Mechanical/technical aptitude with ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, wiring diagrams, or related documentation.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain required licenses, certifications, and qualifications.
• Ability to travel regionally and nationwide up to 90% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, commission, inspect, maintain, and service fire alarm, detection, and special-hazards systems.
• Perform low-voltage and system installation activities including conduit, wiring, detection devices, control panels, and related components.
• Read and interpret plans, drawings, schematics, and project specifications.
• Perform inspections, testing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs per codes and standards.
• Support programming, configuration, integration, acceptance testing, and project closeout activities.
• Document field findings, identify issues, and communicate with project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, test, commission, inspect, maintain, and service fire alarm, detection, special-hazards fire suppression, and associated life safety systems based on experience and demonstrated technical proficiency.
• Perform low-voltage and system installation activities including conduit, wiring, detection devices, control panels, notification appliances, cylinders, valves, piping, tubing, and related components.
• Read and interpret applicable plans, electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, sequence-of-operations documentation, and project specifications.
• Perform system inspections, testing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs in accordance with applicable codes, standards, manufacturer requirements, and company procedures.
• Support system programming, configuration, integration, commissioning, acceptance testing, and project closeout activities as qualified.
• Identify field conditions, deficiencies, material needs, scope concerns, and technical issues and communicate findings to the appropriate project or technical resources.
• Coordinate field activities with other technicians, Project Management, Engineering/Design, contractors, customers, and other trades.
• Complete field reports, work orders, inspection records, test documentation, and other required project documentation accurately and on time.
• Follow all company, customer, and job-site safety requirements and maintain assigned vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials in safe working condition.
• Participate in technical, manufacturer, safety, licensing, and certification training and continue developing expertise in fire and life safety systems.
• Depending on experience level, provide technical assistance, field guidance, and mentoring to less‑experienced technicians.

Experience & Education

Required

• Experience in fire alarm, low-voltage, electrical, fire protection, special-hazards suppression, construction, mechanical, or related field work. We are open to a range of experience levels.
• Mechanical and technical aptitude with the ability to safely use applicable hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and field equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, wiring diagrams, or related documentation at a level appropriate to your experience.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain required licenses, certifications, and technical qualifications.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to travel regionally and nationwide, including overnight stays, up to 90% of the time.

Preferred

• NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems or Special Hazards Suppression Systems, or demonstrated progress toward certification. Experience with clean-agent or other special-hazards systems used in data centers, energy, aviation, industrial, or other mission-critical environments.
