T-Mobile is seeking a motivated and skilled Field Technician to support our Engineering & Operations team across the city of Philadelphia and some surrounding suburbs.

This position is ideal for a well-rounded technician who thrives in a hands‑on environment, enjoys working independently, and is comfortable supporting a wide range of network sites. You will play a key role in maintaining network performance, resolving issues, and supporting ongoing improvements across the market.

Role Overview

The Field Technician serves as a technical contributor within and occasionally beyond their immediate team. This role supports both operational and project-based work, requiring a solid understanding of radio access networks (RAN), backhaul, signaling, disaster recovery, data services, and location‑based services.

The position also requires foundational knowledge of network design, capacity planning, and power systems (AC/DC), along with the ability to apply that knowledge in real‑world field scenarios.

Main Responsibilities
  • Technical Support: Solve network performance issues, support outage resolution, and find opportunities for operational improvement
  • Project Support: Complete and support key projects, ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and communication
  • Operations: Recommend process improvements and assist in developing documentation, job aids, and procedures
  • Continuous Learning: Stay ahead of evolving technologies, systems, and company standards
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent relevant field experience. Candidates with deep technical or field experience are encouraged to apply-no degree required.
    • Acceptable areas of study include Vocational/Technical Training or related field (Preferred)
  • 2-4 years of experience in field operations, maintenance, or related technical roles
  • 2-4 years of experience in wireless telecommunications or a related field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Electronics - Basic operational knowledge, understanding, and theory of all interconnecting circuits to include but not limited to RF transmitters, antenna systems, AAV, fiber, microwave radio, and AC/DC power systems. (Required)
  • Computer Fluency - Proficiency with Microsoft Office and similar productivity tools. Includes an understanding of Internet Protocol and a willingness to incorporate AI-driven tools when preparing and triaging solutions for logical network components. (Required)
  • 5G New Radio (NR) - Demonstrated experience with, or the ability to learn, Radio Access Network (RAN) equipment and 5G NR standards as they apply to field operations. (Required)
  • Base Station - Working knowledge of base station equipment, installation, configuration, and maintenance as it relates to network performance and reliability. (Required)
  • Continuous Development - Candidates are expected to actively grow their skills through ongoing training, certifications, and hands‑on experience in an ever‑evolving telecommunications landscape. (Required)
  • Disaster Recovery Planning - Familiarity with disaster recovery protocols and the ability to complete contingency plans to restore network services with minimal disruption. (Required)
  • Network Troubleshooting - Ability to systematically identify, diagnose, and resolve network issues across a range of hardware and software systems in both planned and emergency scenarios. (Required)
  • Project Management - Ability to plan, coordinate, and complete field assignments efficiently, managing time, resources, and priorities to meet deadlines and service commitments. (Required)
  • Radio Access Networks (RAN) - Practical knowledge of RAN architecture, components, and operations, with the ability to support deployment, maintenance, and optimization activities. (Required)
  • Technical Support - Ability to provide hands‑on technical assistance and field‑level support to internal teams and partners, ensuring timely resolution of equipment and network issues. (Required)
  • Wireless Backhaul - Understanding of wireless backhaul technologies and configurations used to connect cell sites to the core network, including microwave and fiber‑based solutions. (Required)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interactions with local government agencies. (Preferred)
  • Self‑motivated; exhibits initiative in achieving company goals and objectives. (Preferred)
  • Basic leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks. (Preferred)
  • Able to work both independently and in a team environment. (Preferred)
  • Flexibility with ever‑changing environments and shifting priorities. (Preferred)
  • Flexible availability is a must, including day and night work and participation in an on‑call rotation for the Philadelphia area covering nights, weekends, and holidays. (Preferred)
  • Ability to lift 50‑70 pounds; outdoor work in varied weather conditions is an expected part of this role. (Preferred)

Base Pay Range: $27.16 - $48.99Corporate Bonus Target: 10%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non‑temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year‑end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
