Job summary

The University of Oregon’s College of Arts and Sciences, Earth Sciences department, invites Pro Tem Multi-Hazards Field Technicians to support real-time monitoring of earthquakes and wildfires. Based in Eugene, you will travel regionally to operate and refine a distributed monitoring network that provides critical data for public safety and community resilience.

Under supervision of senior staff, you will assist in the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of digital monitoring systems

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in STEM or equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating technical knowledge in digital data collection systems and remote field installation.
Ability to work independently and in a team, problem-solve, and follow documentation procedures.
Experience with remote field installations, digital sensors, and telecommunications is desirable.

Responsibilities

Monitor instrument performance and field data quality.
Conduct field investigations and troubleshooting of data irregularities.
Assist in design, installation, testing, and maintenance of digital monitoring systems and telemetry.
Document procedures to inform ongoing scientific analysis.
Work both independently in remote field environments and with a research team.
