Qualifications

  • Industry certifications such as ACI Level 1 Concrete Testing desired.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and hands‑on Field Technician I to join our team and support engineering, environmental services, materials testing, and inspection projects. In this role, you will conduct on‑site inspections, materials testing, and environmental sampling to ensure construction, infrastructure, and environmental projects meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. This position requires frequent travel to job sites, offers professional growth, technical training, and career advancement.

Responsibilities
  • Perform pre‑ and post‑construction surveys.
  • Conduct field tests to assess soil and concrete (e.g., SPT, CPT, slurry tests).
  • Monitor installation of deep foundation elements such as piles and drilled shafts.
  • Perform quality control checks on materials, equipment, and construction processes.
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation for vibration monitoring.
  • Use design software to prepare technical reports.
  • Travel within the state of Florida, if applicable.
  • Complete daily time and labor reports and required paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, requirements, and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, field supervisors, contractors, and project managers.
  • Adhere to project timelines and report on time.
  • Adapt to changing project requirements, schedules, and weather conditions.
  • Participate in ongoing training and certification programs.
  • Follow safety protocols and OSHA regulations, including proper use of PPE.
  • Operate and maintain an assigned company vehicle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project goals.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training in construction, engineering, geology, or related field is a plus.
  • 0–3 years of field‑based experience preferred (construction, materials testing, geotechnical).
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Industry certifications such as ACI Level 1 Concrete Testing (or ability to obtain within the specified time period).
  • Commitment to workplace safety and OSHA standards.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Field Data Collection software).
  • Mathematical skills sufficient for basic calculations.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints, procedures, manuals, and technical documents.
  • Strong time‑management, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Attention to detail in sample collection and documentation.
  • Independent and collaborative work skills.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules, including early mornings, weekends, overtime, and overnight travel.
Travel Requirements

Approximately 70% of the time traveling to job sites and field locations. Travel may be scheduled or on short notice, depending on project needs.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This position is performed in outdoor environments with exposure to varying field conditions. Physical requirements include:

  • Lifting and carrying 35 to 50 lbs up to 75 ft, with regular repetitive motion.
  • Standing, walking, driving, and operating equipment for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms for typing, handling tools, and operating equipment.
  • Bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, climbing, balancing, lifting, carrying, and pushing as required.
  • Speaking and hearing effectively in noisy environments.
  • Use of senses—vision, hearing, touch—to navigate terrain and operate equipment.
