T-Mobile is searching for an impactful Field Technician in our Central and Western Nebraska market to join us in taking the next big leap forward!
You should possess a balance of wireless industry exposure, coupled with the ability to be independent and cover a wide area of sites in our Central and Western Nebraska market where The areas around Kearney, NE and Grand Island, NE mark excellent entry points to service a territory that stretches east-west from Columbus to Scotts Bluff, NE and north-south from Valentine to McCook, NE. As a Field Technician, you will be a generalist, encompassing aspects of technical support, project management, and operational support while being a responsible teammate.

This role supports network operations in an area that covers Central and Western Nebraska, by applying technical knowledge to maintain and improve network performance and reliability. It involves providing technical assistance, managing smaller projects, and contributing to operational process improvements. The role requires understanding of radio access networks, backhaul, signaling, disaster recovery, data services, and location-based services. Success is measured by effective technical support, timely project updates, and identification of process improvements. The work directly impacts network stability and service quality for organizational and customer needs.
Main responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to resolve network performance issues and contribute to outage resolution efforts
  • Manage smaller projects or project segments, delivering accurate status and progress updates as required
  • Identify and recommend process improvements related to maintenance and repair activities to senior staff and management
  • Assist in developing job aids, scopes of work, and procedural documentation in collaboration with senior technicians
  • Complete required training to maintain current knowledge of systems, products, and organizational standards
  • Develop yourself through continuous learning – completing training requirements to stay current on existing and new systems and product in order to grow skills and to expand proficiency in alignment with organizational values and requirements.
  • Also responsible for other duties/projects as assigned by business management as needed
Education and Work Experience:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree OR combination of education and experience deemed equivalent (Required)
    • Acceptable areas of study include Vocational/Technical Training or related field (Preferred)
  • 2-4 years - Working experience in Field Operations and maintenance.
  • 2-4 years - Wireless telecommunications or other related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Electronics (Required)
    • Basic operational knowledge and theory of all interconnecting circuits to include but not limited to RF transmitters, antenna systems, AAV, fiber, microwave radio and AC-DC power systems, and AI.
  • Radio Access Network (RAN) – Practical knowledge of RAN architecture, components, and operations, with the ability to support deployment, maintenance, and optimization activities. (Required)
    • Experience with Nokia RAN technology is a plus.
  • Wireless Backhaul – Understanding of wireless backhaul technologies and configurations used to connect cell sites to the core network, including microwave and fiber-based solutions. (Required)
    • Licensed Microwave and millimeter-wave wireless transport technology – Ceragon experience is a plus
  • 5G New Radio (NR) – Demonstrated experience with, or the ability to learn, Radio Access Network (RAN) equipment and 5G NR standards as they apply to field operations. (Required)
  • Base Station – Working knowledge of base station equipment, installation, configuration, and maintenance as it relates to network performance and reliability. (Required)
  • Continuous Development – Candidates are expected to actively grow their skill set through ongoing training, certifications, and hands-on experience in an ever-evolving telecommunications landscape. (Required)
  • Disaster Recovery Planning – Familiarity with disaster recovery protocols and the ability to execute contingency plans to restore network services with minimal disruption. (Required)
  • Network Troubleshooting – Ability to systematically identify, diagnose, and resolve network issues across a range of hardware and software systems in both planned and emergency scenarios. (Required)
  • Project Management – Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute field assignments efficiently, managing time, resources, and priorities to meet deadlines and service commitments. (Required)
  • Technical Support – Ability to provide hands-on technical assistance and field-level support to internal teams and stakeholders, ensuring timely resolution of equipment and network issues. (Required)

  • Problem Solving / Troubleshooting - Solves problems using creativity and innovation. (Required)
  • Computer Fluency – Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and similar productivity tools. Includes an understanding of Internet Protocol and a willingness to incorporate AI-driven tools when preparing and triaging solutions for logical network components. (Required)
  • Ability to use fiber test, line and antenna test equipment. (Preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. (Preferred)
  • Self-motivated; exhibits initiative in achieving company goals and objectives. (Preferred)
  • Basic leadership skills and ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks. (Preferred)
  • Able to work both independently and in a team environment. (Preferred)
  • Flexibility with ever-changing environments and priorities. (Preferred)
  • Flexible hours are a must. Day and night work is part of the job, as well as being part of an on-call rotation once every 4 weeks for the market, which includes weekends and holidays. (Required)
  • Ability to lift 50-70 pounds as well as being outside in the elements is an expected part of this role. (Required)

Base Pay Range: $27.16 - $48.99
Corporate Bonus Target: 10%
