Job summary

Opifex-Synergy Pump division in Bloomingdale, GA seeks a Field Technician to install, repair, and test de-watering equipment on customer sites. You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and provide on-site support while ensuring safety and quality standards.

The role requires extensive knowledge of diesel engines and heavy equipment, the ability to troubleshoot, and willingness to travel to multiple job sites. You must own your tools and hold a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment to ensure proper working conditions on site or in the shop
• Performs routine equipment clean-up and safety inspections
• Inspects, diagnoses, repairs, and adjusts heavy equipment and completes paperwork
• Participates in all training programs directed by the Service Manager
• Maintains tools in good working order per MSHA/OSHA regulations
• Completes basic computer tasks including work orders and emails
• Communicates with customers to exceed expectations
• Provides service and customer support during field visits
• Drives to job sites and coordinates with vendors for parts
• Produces timely and detailed service reports
• Operates vehicles safely and uses field automation systems
• Follows all field procedures and protocols
• Cooperates with the technical team and shares information across the organization

Essential Functions

• Troubleshoots and diagnoses all types of equipment to ensure proper working conditions on the job site or in the shop
• Performs routine equipment clean-up and upkeep as well as safety review and pre-delivery inspections
• Inspects, diagnoses, repairs, reconditions, and adjusts heavy equipment as required and completes all paperwork on assigned equipment
• Participate in all training programs directed by the Service Manager
• Bring to the attention of the Service Manager any shop tools, equipment, or vehicles that are not in a serviceable condition or unsafe to use
• Maintains tools in good working order per MSHA and OSHA regulations
• Completes basic computer tasks including work orders, parts lookup, and email communication
• Communicates with coworkers and customers to ensure top-quality equipment availability and customer expectations are exceeded
• Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches
• Tie workflow to schedule
• Manage all on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and test tasks
• Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions
• Produce timely and detailed service reports
• Operate vehicles safely and use field automation systems
• Follow all company field procedures and protocols

Work Environment

• Work is primarily conducted in construction sites, equipment yards, and transportation routes
• Regular exposure to heavy machinery and diesel-powered equipment
• Frequent outdoor work in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind
• Physically demanding environment with uneven terrain, dust, mud, and loud noise levels
• Duties may involve shop-based tasks and fieldwork, including travel to remote job sites
• Strict adherence to safety protocols is required at all times
• PPE such as steel-toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection must be worn as needed
• Must be comfortable operating around large equipment, confined spaces, or elevated positions
• Lifting heavy components and materials is often required
• Flexibility and adaptability are essential as job site conditions and priorities change rapidly

Travel Required

• Required to travel to various locations for training classes or seminars
• Drive to multiple vendors to acquire parts for assigned repairs
• Position may require several hours of driving daily to job sites

Physical Demands

• Requires a high level of physical stamina and mobility in jobsite and yard environments
• Frequent lifting, carrying, and maneuvering of tools, chains, tarps, and equipment weighing 50+ pounds
• Regular bending, squatting, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
• Prolonged standing, walking, and working on uneven terrain such as gravel, dirt, or pavement
• Climbing in and out of trucks, onto trailers, or equipment is required
• Must maintain balance while working from steps, ladders, or elevated platforms
• Fine motor skills and manual dexterity required for handling controls, tie-downs, and documentation
• Must safely operate commercial vehicles and remain alert in hazardous driving and yard conditions
• Occasional pushing, pulling, and positioning of heavy materials or components
