Job summary

Patriot Environmental Services in Kentucky is seeking a hands-on Environmental Field Technician to join our emergency response and remediation teams. You will perform cleanup, operate equipment, and help ensure safety protocols are followed on-site.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, 40-hour HAZWOPER, a valid driver's license, and willingness to work long hours, including nights or weekends, in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification required.
• Confined Space Entry certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority and follow safe work practices.
• Perform emergency response cleanup activities including chemical and water spills and hazardous waste handling.
• Sweep, dig, shovel, lift, and pressure wash to assist cleanup.
• Operate cleanup equipment used in hazardous waste activities.
• Follow policies for control and storage of hazardous substances.
• Attend safety training as required.
• Respond to 24/7 Emergency Response calls when on standby.
• Work long hours and overtime during various shifts.
• Assist with facility maintenance and other duties as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner.
• Perform emergency response cleanup activities including but not limited to chemical and water spills, non-hazardous and hazardous waste and toxic materials and equipment decontamination.
• Sweep, dig, shovel, lift, pressure wash and handling drums to assist in cleanup.
• Operate cleanup equipment used in hazardous waste activities.
• Follow policies and procedures for control and storage of hazardous substances.
• Attend safety training as required.
• Comply with the Random Drug Testing Program.
• Perform various housekeeping and custodial duties and other duties as required.
• Assist with maintenance of facility like unloading trucks and other ancillary duties.
• Answer 24/7 Emergency Response calls when on uncontrolled standby.
• Work long hours and overtime during day, night or weekend shifts.
• Other reasonable directives, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Some environmental services industry experience preferred.
• Some hazardous waste control experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Driving record that meets company standards and current DMV printout, required.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification required.
• Confined Space Entry certification preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

• Pushing / pulling: frequent daily basis
• Twisting / turning: frequent daily basis
• Lift items over head: frequent daily basis
• Standing: 6-8 hours daily
• Crouching / stooping: prolonged periods
• Lifting / carrying: frequent daily up to 50 lbs
• Work in confined spaces or at heights.
• Required to wear a variety of personal protection equipment as required including but not limited to Tyvek suits.
• Required to wear respirators as needed.
• Performs labor intensive activities in all weather conditions during any hours during the day or night.
