Job summary

CRH APAC-Atlantic is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to service and repair asphalt equipment across the Coastal Georgia region. You will perform lubrication, inspections, and overhauls to ensure reliability and uptime on multiple heavy machines, both in shop and on site.

You will use diagnostic software and standard tools to troubleshoot, replace components, and maintain safety standards; travel to various job sites, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college or technical training preferred.
• Repair and troubleshooting of asphalt equipment experience desired.
• Experience with diagnostic software for major equipment brands (CAT, Cummins, Volvo).

Responsibilities

• Lubrication, inspection, and proactive condition monitoring of heavy equipment.
• Operate and repair various heavy machinery including lathes, grinders, and presses.
• Overhaul fuel injectors, governors, and engine components for peak performance.
• Perform preventative maintenance and field repairs on equipment.
• Travel to job sites and work overtime as needed.

Key Responsibilities

As a Heavy Equipment Technician, your daily impactis visible in the quality and reliability of every machine you touch. Your responsibilities will include:

• Lubrication & Inspection: Master oil, air, and fuel filtration procedures, greasepointsand capacities, and employ advanced inspection techniques to proactively detect abnormal conditions.

• Utilizewelding and burning equipment;operatelathes, saws, shapers, grinders, and presses to fabricate and repair critical components.

• Injector-Governor Expertise: Diagnose, service, and overhaul fuel injector pumps, nozzles, and engine governors, ensuring peak engine performance.

• Water & Air-Cooled Engine Rebuilds: Assist in the complete overhaul and testing of both gas and diesel engines as well as various air-cooled engines.

• Transmission and Rear-End Systems: Overhaul mechanisms that transfer engine power, supporting the productivity and reliability of all heavy equipment.

• Parts Management: Navigate parts catalogs for procurement and handling, manage storage, and contribute to cost-effective parts strategies.

• Electrical Systems: Overhaul starters, generators, and voltage regulators, ensuring smooth operation of electrical components.

• Shop & Field Repair: Repair and overhaul a full suite of heavy equipment, including crawler and wheel tractors, front end loaders, rollers, subgrade mixers, motor graders, compactors, pumps, and compressors — both in the shop and out in the field.

• Preventative Maintenance: Perform field repairs and implement preventative maintenance practices that maximize equipment service life and uptime.

• Physical Dexterity:Utilizemotion skills including climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, driving, riding, pushing, pulling, vibrating, twisting, kneeling, walking, standing,lying, rolling, reaching, and hammering.

• Heavy Lifting: Safelylift upto 50 lbs. as repairs demand.

• Tool Mastery: Work efficiently with a wide array of tools, from wrenches and screwdrivers to pneumatic wrenches, impact tools, and measuring devices.

• Flexible Hours: Embrace overtime and variable schedules, including exposure to hot, cold, and wet weather conditions.

• Travel Requirements: Ride to and from job sites;operatecompany vehicles (must meet APAC Driver Qualification Standards) and pass DOT exams per State and Federal regulations. Air brakes skills testrequiredfor vehicles with air brakes.

Work Requirements

• Pass pre-employment drug screening, criminal backgroundcheck, & DOT physical.
• Must be at least 21 years of age to operate service truck over state lines.

• Must own and provide your own tools to complete job functions.

• Provide valid documentation for I-9 Immigration compliance.

• Consistentlydisplaya professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers, supervisors, and the public.

• Willingnessto work nights, weekends, and overtime whenrequired.

• Report to work promptly at designated start times.

• Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet fleet safety program requirements.

• Travel to different job sites using personal transportation and work away from home as needed.

• Strict adherence to all safety requirements and company procedures.

• Work collaboratively in a team setting,providing assistance tocolleagues and supervisors as needed.

• Wear (PPE) at all times, per OSHA/MSHA regulations.

• Demonstrate physical capability to climb into equipment cabs using three-point entry.

• Lift and carry objects weighing 50-70 lbs. betweendifferent levelsand locations.

• Kneel, stoop, bend, and twist asrequiredfor repairs and maintenance.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• Work in environments with significant noise, fumes, and airborne dust.

• Occasional exposure to carbon monoxide, ozone, and other hazardous gases.

• Operatein close proximity tomoving mechanical parts, withriskof slipping or exposure to extreme temperatures.

• Consistently wear required safety gear, including hardhat, safety glasses,vest, gloves, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection.
