Overview

Engineering consulting firm is seeking to fill Building Enclosure Inspector career positions at its Canton, MA office location. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a unique small business with a big 128-year history, conducting tests on large-scale construction, historic buildings, and pre- and post-construction projects including some of the most iconic buildings in New England. Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized building enclosure services on large-scale buildings: weatherproofing tests and inspection services, along with forensic services, window, curtain wall, storefront, and door testing, FM Global wind uplift test, smoke test and electronic leak detection for roofs.
• Interpret and record findings, process reports, and interface with clients, along with other duties as assigned by the Director of Building Enclosure Services.

Qualifications

• Education: Preferred Civil Engineering degree; minimum education: Associate’s degree.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years in construction engineering, building inspection services, or building enclosure services.
• Ability to compose professional reports in a timely manner with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and share knowledge.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with problem solving, organizational, time management skills, and attention to detail.
• Clean CORI background check.
• Reliable vehicle, valid Driver’s License, and clean driving record.
• Must be able to pass random drug and alcohol tests.
• Physical abilities: ability to sit; stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk, and hear. Occasionally may be required to walk, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to lift up to 125 pounds. Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. In the field, may be required to walk in rugged conditions, work in adverse weather, stand for extended periods, and work from heights (e.g., staging, ladders, boom-lift, scaffolding, or roofs).
• Willingness to comply with safety procedures in office and on job sites. Must wear attire appropriate with performing assigned duties safely. ANSI-approved footwear necessary. Hard hat, safety vest and safety glasses are provided.
• Legally authorized to work long term in the US.
• OSHA-10 certification.
• Computer proficiency (MS Office and AutoCAD).
