Job summary

Phillips Infrastructure in Florida is seeking a Field Surveyor to perform construction layout and grade control on active jobsites using GPS systems and Trimble equipment to support dirt work, mass grading, utility installation, and site development.

The Field Surveyor collaborates with project managers, superintendents, and equipment operators to ensure accurate implementation of design plans in the field, while prioritizing safety, quality, and precision in outdoor environments.

Qualifications

• Understanding of construction staking, grade control, and earthwork principles.
• Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans, grading plans, and cross-sections.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Proficient in MS Office applications.
• Ability to work in a team and independently in outdoor environments.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision.
• Physical ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Perform field measurements using GPS equipment, robotic total stations, and survey level; experience with Trimble equipment preferred.
• Establish and maintain horizontal and vertical control on active construction sites.
• Verify benchmarks and control points throughout project duration.
• Conduct construction layout for grading, pads, slopes, and structures.
• Perform grade checks for excavations, embankments, subgrades, and finished surfaces.
• Support GPS machine control systems for dozers, excavators, and motor graders.
• Upload and verify 3D models and design surfaces for field equipment.
• Conduct as-built surveys for final grade of completed work.
• Coordinate survey activities with the team to maintain production efficiency.
• Maintain and calibrate survey equipment to ensure accuracy.
• Conduct research in surveying and mapping methods.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, tolerances, and safety standards.
