Job summary

THD Design Group in the southern United States is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief for ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys. The role involves extensive travel across AL, MS, TX, AR, LA and OK, with emphasis on field operations and high-precision data collection.

You will lead and coordinate field crews, maintain equipment, ensure safety and accuracy, interpret plans and deeds, and communicate with project managers and clients to deliver quality survey results.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief.
• Strong experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys.
• Proficiency with modern survey equipment and software.
• Ability to read and interpret survey plans, title commitments, and legal documents.
• Strong leadership and crew management skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently (up to 75–100%).
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• CST certification or equivalent a plus.
• Experience working across multiple states or regions a plus.
• Knowledge of state-specific survey requirements in TX, LA, OK, AR, MS, and AL a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys.
• Plan, organize, and execute field survey operations across multiple states.
• Operate and maintain survey equipment (GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors, etc.).
• Interpret project requirements, plats, deeds, and legal descriptions.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of field data collection.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, office staff, and clients as needed.
• Maintain daily field notes, reports, and documentation.
• Travel extensively (multi-state travel required, often weekly).
