Job summary

Priority OnDemand in Mechanicsville, VA is seeking a Shift Supervisor/Paramedic in Lifecare Medical Transports. The role reports directly to the Operations Supervisor and will act as second in command, oversee field crews, manage supplies, and coordinate with maintenance and communications to maximize EMS efficiency.

You will review incidents, ensure EMS standards, and assist with training and daily scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Attend the required management meetings.
• Assist with the training department as needed with continuing education and orientation.
• Assign and distribute work, review work for accuracy and completeness, and return assignments with recommendations for proper completion.
• Collaborate with the communications department to maximize utilization of resources.
• Review, respond to, and report all incidents and accidents in accordance with company policy.
• Inspect field personnel, quarters, and units to ensure conformity of EMS standards.
• Collaborate with maintenance personnel to ensure safe vehicle performance.
• Initiate disciplinary actions in accordance with EMS operating procedures.
• Determine medical disposition of patients and medical facility utilized; secure patient into ambulance, monitor condition enroute to hospital, provide continuous medical care and treatment, and demonstrate working knowledge of Paramedic Division destination policies.
• Assist Shift Supervisor with daily duties, act as second in command when required.
• Responsible for reviewing the daily schedule and addressing gaps and needs during the workday.
• Maintain supply system management: inventorying, ordering, receiving, stocking, and issuing medical and office supplies.
• Maintain operational fleet status and communicate updates with Operations Manager, including daily vehicle checkout sheets.
• Ensure crews complete ePCRs in a timely fashion per company policy.
• Handle hospital and customer complaints.
• Act as “production” team member and perform administrative responsibilities.

Summary

Working Environment

Due to the nature of EMS Care, employees may be exposed to inclement weather, potentially hazardous conditions, psychological stressors, diseases and other illnesses. Frequent interruptions, work pressure, difficult personalities and irregularities in work schedule are expected. Employees are subject to continually changing deadlines while performing the duties of this job. The employee may be required to attend meetings, some of which may take place outside of regular working hours, and may have periods without sleep, food, or breaks as determined by call load.
