Job summary

Ponder Environmental Services, Inc. seeks an experienced Environmental Field Supervisor to lead field crews and drive safe, high-quality results in California's industrial settings.

You will manage daily field operations, mentor technicians, and serve as the main customer contact, ensuring projects meet safety and regulatory standards while maintaining Ponder's reputation for exceptional service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum five (5) years experience in environmental/industrial services or related field operations.
• 2+ years supervisory experience preferred.
• Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
• Valid California Class C Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
• Experience leading field personnel or project crews.
• Experience on hazardous waste sites or industrial projects.
• Knowledge of respiratory protection, chemical hazards, and PPE requirements.
• Ability to operate field equipment and heavy machinery safely.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and mentor field crews and Lead Technicians.
• Coordinate daily jobsite activities, personnel, and equipment.
• Serve as the primary contact between customers, field personnel, Operations, and Dispatch.
• Direct environmental remediation, industrial cleaning, emergency response, and hazardous waste projects.
• Operate and oversee heavy equipment, forklifts, pumps, and field equipment.
• Complete JSA/JHA, Confined Space Entry permits, rescue plans, and required project documentation.
• Promote a strong safety culture by coaching crews and leading by example.
• Report incidents, near misses, and safety concerns promptly and accurately.
• Maintain professional communication with customers while delivering exceptional service.
• Travel and overtime are expected as part of this position.
• Most routine operations occur during the day; emergency response can happen at any hour.

Ponder Environmental Services offers a full range of standard and on-call emergency environmental services to oil and gas exploration and production, pipeline terminals, refineries, manufacturers, processors and public entities throughout Northern and Central California. Our services in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento and Bakersfield include storage tank cleaning, vacuum truck services, roll-off services, robotic manway cannons, temporary storage tanks, spill response, hazmat cleaning and packing, degassing and vapor control, confined space rescue services and installation of temporary and permanent fencing.

About the Job

We're looking for an experienced Field Supervisor who leads by example, thrives in the field, and takes pride in developing high-performing crews.

In this role, you'll oversee daily field operations, lead environmental response crews, and ensure every project is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

You’ll coordinate personnel and equipment, mentor technicians, communicate directly with customers, and play a key role in maintaining Ponder's reputation for exceptional service.

What You’ll Do

As an Environmental Field Supervisor, you will:

• Lead, supervise, and mentor field crews and Lead Technicians
• Coordinate daily jobsite activities, personnel, and equipment
• Serve as the primary point of contact between customers, field personnel, Operations, and Dispatch
• Direct environmental remediation, industrial cleaning, emergency response, and hazardous waste projects
• Operate and oversee heavy equipment, forklifts, pumps, and specialized field equipment
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform basic repairs and maintenanceEnsure all work complies with company policies, customer requirements, and environmental regulations
• Complete Job Safety Analyses (JSA/JHA), Confined Space Entry permits, rescue plans, and required project documentation
• Promote a strong safety culture by coaching crews and leading by example
• Report incidents, near misses, and safety concerns promptly and accurately
• Maintain professional communication with customers while delivering exceptional service
• Travel and overtime are expected as part of this position

What You Bring

Qualifications:
