Job summary

Smith Arnold Partners is seeking a hands-on Superintendent / Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) for project-based, on-site leadership in California. You will supervise all on-site construction activities, enforce safety plans, and lead safety programs while coordinating with multiple trades and the project team.

The role requires extensive field leadership, OSHA 30 certification, and experience on federally funded projects.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a Superintendent or senior field leader.
• Proven track record leading construction safety programs on active job sites.
• OSHA 30 certification and ongoing safety training experience.
• Solid knowledge of U.S. construction methods and industry standards.
• Ability to coordinate multiple trades and manage subcontractor performance.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, and supervise all on-site construction activities and subcontractor work.
• Serve as Site Safety & Health Officer, ensuring Site-Specific Safety Plan compliance.
• Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies across all trades.
• Lead toolbox talks and present safety updates during progress meetings.
• Review and maintain safety documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Work with engineering, estimating, and planning teams to align with drawings and schedules.
