Job summary

Schindler Group is seeking a Field Superintendent for New Installations to oversee elevator installation projects from start to finish. You will lead field technicians, coordinate readiness, and ensure safety, quality, and customer satisfaction across projects.

The role requires strong leadership, scheduling, and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on collaboration with contractors, union partners, and internal teams. This is a hands-on leadership position at our Orlando operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in elevator or construction environments preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and basic project tools.
  • Ability to manage labor relations and coordinate with union representatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing field team of 12–20 technicians while upholding safety and quality standards.
  • Coordinate daily project schedules, site readiness walkthroughs, parts ordering, and payroll accuracy.
  • Monitor installation progress and drive efficiency through regular site visits and clear communication.
  • Manage manpower levels in partnership with union representatives and resolve staffing issues.
  • Support Sales and Project Management with bid estimates, progress meetings, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure all projects meet contractual, safety, and company requirements.

Field Superintendent - New Installation
Your main responsibilities

As a Field Superintendent for New Installations (NI), you will oversee all phases of elevator installation projects, ensuring quality, safety, cost control, and customer satisfaction. You will lead and develop field technicians, coordinate job site readiness, and act as the key point of contact for contractors, customers, and internal teams to support regional objectives.

Operations Management
  • Lead and build a high-performing, safe team of 12–20 field technicians by enforcing company quality and safety standards.
  • Coordinate daily project schedules, job site readiness walkthroughs, parts/material ordering, and payroll accuracy.
  • Monitor installation progress and drive efficiency through consistent site visits and communication.
  • Manage manpower levels in partnership with union representatives, resolving employee relations and staffing issues.
  • Support sales and project management teams with bid estimates, job progress meetings, and complaint resolution.
  • Ensure all installation projects meet contractual, company, and safety requirements.
Quality and Safety
  • Conduct regular site inspections, including physical access to motor rooms, pits, and shaftways, to ensure quality workmanship and safety compliance.
  • Implement company and customer requirements for product performance, reliability, and passenger safety.
  • Enforce safety best practices and participate in continuous training programs.
Employee Development, Planning & Logistics
  • Train and mentor technicians on company processes, tools, safety protocols, and industry standards.
  • Foster open communication and teamwork among field staff and union partners.
  • Manage daily logistics and resource allocation to optimize project delivery.
Collaboration
  • Serve as a liaison between field teams, contractors, sales, project managers, and support functions.
  • Work closely with union representatives to maintain positive labor relations.
  • Coordinate with quality, engineering, and service teams during project handovers and customer training.
Problem Solving
  • Proactively identify and resolve on-site challenges, customer concerns, and operational roadblocks.
  • Adapt to shifting priorities and urgent requests from technicians and contractors to keep projects on track.

What you bring
  • 5+ years of technical leadership experience or elevator industry experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant work experience in the elevator industry, construction industry or related field
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage sensitive employee relations with proven leadership skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing tradespeople
  • Flexibility to be on call
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment
