Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Field Superintendent - Distribs/Facilities to lead craft supervision and ensure construction activities meet specifications, budgets, and schedules. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with discipline Superintendents, General Foreman, and Foreman to determine equipment requirements.
  • Schedule and supervise in-process activities; review work completed.
  • Prepare equipment maintenance schedules and material/service requisitions.
  • Supervise craft personnel and direct equipment support activities across disciplines.
  • Prepare craft requisitions, forecasts, staffing and expenditure plans.

Project Overview:

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S.

This project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year.

The candidate will act as the Lead Superintendent Distribs / Facilities on the upcoming project. The candidate may start in the home office in Reston, Houston or Cheyenne, Wyoming, as single status, to support preconstruction planning, ahead of project mobilization to the field when the candidate will locate on a long-term assignment to Cheyenne, Wyoming. This position is contingent upon project award.

Job Summary:

The Field Superintendent - Distribs / Facilities is responsible for supervising and directing craft operations within assigned disciplines or areas. They will supervise and direct Craft activities and others, as assigned. They will ensure assigned construction operations and subcontractors' performance is in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budget. They will perform general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions. #LI-SP1

Major Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with various discipline Superintendents, General Foreman, and Foreman to determine equipment requirements.
  • Schedule work to be performed, supervise in-process activities, and review work when accomplished.
  • Prepare equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Prepare material and service requisitions for temporary construction material, tools and consumables.
  • Supervise and direct subordinate personnel and craft in equipment support activities within various disciplines
  • Prepare craft requisitions and forecasts, staffing resource and expenditure forecast.
  • Participate in site safety walkdowns, schedule and cost reviews.
  • Develop and work plans and activities
  • Implement procedures to ensure construction operations are continuously adhering to engineering designs, specifications, quality standards, schedules and budget
  • Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned discipline operations
  • Coordinate field activities with other disciplines
  • Ensure that all State and Federal safety codes, requirements, and standards are being complied within assigned area of responsibility.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management or other relevant technical disciplines from an accredited university (or international equivalent), plus a minimum of 5-8 years of relevant work experience; or 9-12 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in field supervision on direct hire work.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction engineering practices related to all disciplines.
  • Demonstrated planning and scheduling, procurement, and contracting experience.
  • Maintain, promote and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft
  • Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
  • Understanding of production management including scheduling.
  • Advanced communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
