Job summary

Socket Fiber is seeking a Field Services Technician- Tier II in Louisiana to deliver expert installation services for residential customers. In this role, you will ensure excellent customer experiences while connecting clients to Socket's fiber network. The position involves travel and requires the ability to work outdoors in various conditions.

Overview

Field Services Technician- Tier II to join our talented workforce. In this role, you’ll deliver expert onsite installation services for residential customers. You’ll play a key role in ensuring a seamless experience for our customers as they connect to Socket's fiber network. This position requires travel to our various service areas and work in most conditions.

Location

Louisiana and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform independent installations and repairs for residential customers.
  • Install and configure customer equipment, including routers, modems, and Wi‑Fi gateways.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience by being professional, friendly, and knowledgeable during all service visits.
  • Diagnose and resolve connectivity and service issues with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Install, terminate, and test network cabling, adhering to all relevant codes and standards.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of service activities.
  • Safely operate company vehicles and equipment, including ladders and bucket trucks, in accordance with all safety protocols and DOT/OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and represent Socket with professionalism in the field.

Experience/Knowledge Required
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in telecommunications, installation, construction, and utility work.
  • Valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
  • Ability to participate in an on‑call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Comfortable working in both underground and aerial environments (climbing ladders up to 32 ft and operating a bucket truck).
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Able to enter and safely operate a bucket truck with a weight limit of 300 lbs.
  • Flexible schedule with work on Saturdays and/or Sundays.
  • Willingness to obtain a class E license if offered.
Preferences
  • Experience with CAT3 and CAT5 cabling, including installation, termination, and testing.
  • Working knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies and basic networking principles.
  • Ability to test and install customer ADSL/xDSL circuit orders with the appropriate local exchange carrier (LEC).
  • Knowledge of cable pulling, terminations, closet buildouts, and compliance with building and fire codes.
