Job summary

RMS Roller-Grinder is seeking a Field Service Technician in Harrisburg, SD. You will travel to feed mills, ethanol plants, and grain facilities, often 3 overnights per week, with a company plane and per diem to keep you moving.

This role offers high autonomy, hands-on problem solving, and direct interaction with customers. You’ll diagnose, install, service, and train operators across multiple machine models while reporting back to engineering.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; CDL within 90 days is required.
• Valid drivers license; ability to obtain CDL if not currently held.
• Willing to travel 3 overnights most weeks; travel can involve overnight stays.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on, fix-it mindset.

Responsibilities

• Roll changes: remove worn rolls and bearings, install new, inspect machine.
• Wellness visits: full machine setup and preventive care.
• Startups and commissioning on new installs with customer and contractor.
• Maintenance or breakdown calls: diagnose and repair issues.
• Train customer operators and maintenance crews on operation and upkeep.
• Document findings and recommendations to customer; report to engineering.
• Maintain accurate paperwork including reporting and billing.
