Job summary

POWERX is seeking a self-motivated Field Service Technician for our National Technician Development Program. This full-time, entry-level role begins with five weeks of paid classroom and hands-on training covering safety, power systems fundamentals, schematic reading, protection and control, and testing.

After training, you’ll perform electrical field testing and commissioning at customer sites nationwide. New hires start as assistants and grow into independent technician work, with

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; relevant technical training preferred.
  • 0–1 years in field-testing or entry-level role; ability to learn quickly.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to customer sites nationwide.
  • Must pass background, MVR, and drug/alcohol screenings.
  • Basic electrical theory and power systems fundamentals; ability to read schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with electrical field testing and commissioning at customer sites.
  • Perform assigned test points and procedures; increase independence with experience.
  • Adhere to NFPA 70E safety rules and complete JHAs.
  • Set up and operate test equipment (Doble, Omicron, Megger, RTS software).
  • Document test data; contribute to test procedures and reports.
  • Represent POWERX professionally at client sites nationwide.
