Job summary

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Road Mechanic. The role performs preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on equipment to avoid downtime. The fleet includes Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools and equipment, along with specialty lines such as large‑scale generators, pumps, HVAC and oil/gas equipment.

You will work on challenging remote locations, develop new skills for a career track in service or operation management, and join an incredible team in a safety‑focused environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some trade school or equivalent training desired.
• 3-5 years of mechanic experience with diesel or heavy construction equipment strongly preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; CDL may be required in some locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on diesel/heavy equipment.
• Work in challenging remote locations and varied conditions.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Follow safety procedures and quality standards.

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Road Mechanic. The role performs preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on equipment to avoid downtime. The fleet includes Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools and equipment, along with specialty lines such as large‑scale generators, pumps, HVAC and oil/gas equipment.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required; some trade school or equivalent training desired
• 3‑5 years of mechanic experience with diesel equipment, heavy construction equipment or specialty lines equipment (large‑scale generators, pumps, HVAC or oil & gas equipment) strongly preferred
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (21 years of age & CDL license may be required in some locations)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• May need to provide mechanic’s tools of trade
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and troubleshooting fundamentals
• Knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting fundamentals
• Ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• Bilingual (Spanish or other) may be required based on location needs

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role require bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors when required by the job.

Pay Range

Base Pay Range: $24.05 – $33.06 per hour.
