Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services in Houston, TX seeks a Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for field services customer support. You will provide advanced mechanical support to internal and external customers, lead startup and commissioning tasks, and apply diagnostics such as vibrations and emissions to resolve complex issues.

You must travel extensively, work extended hours, and stay aligned with GE Startup & Commissioning Standards while diagnosing engines and reciprocating compressors.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in Reciprocating Compression.
• Associates Degree with a technical concentration (Bachelor’s Degree recommended) or equivalent work experience.
• Formal training in the oil and gas industry or associated industry.
• Mastery of core competencies and engine & compressor theory.
• Strong ability to document service reports clearly and accurately.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Technical SME in all technical areas of Field Services customer support.
• Provide technical and mechanical services support to internal and external customers.
• Demonstrate expertise in conflict resolution, advanced problem solving, and diagnostics such as vibrations and emissions.
• Utilize leadership skills to lead all startup and commissioning tasks.
• Serve as a Reciprocating Compression Products SME and perform engine & compressor diagnostics.
• Present diagnostic results professionally to customers.
• Lead or perform all startup and commissioning tasks as required.
• Familiar with GE Startup & Commissioning Standards and able to start and operate the package.
• Travel extensively and work extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and handling heavy equipment in outdoor conditions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Serve as a Reciprocating Compression Products Subject Matter Expert (SME) and proficiently perform engine and compressor diagnostics.
• Present diagnosticresults professionallyto customers.
• Lead or perform all startup and commissioning tasks asrequired.
• Must be familiar with GE Startup & Commissioning Standards andhave the ability tostart andoperatethe package.
• Travel extensively and work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
• Perform physical taskssuch asascending/descending ladders, moving heavy boxes, and working in outdoor conditions.
• Performadditionalduties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in Reciprocating Compression.
• Meets all sublevel (FS Technician I, II & III) requirements.
• Clear, concise, andaccurateservice reporting isrequired.
• Education - Complete training for the following:
• Associates Degreewith a technical concentration (Bachelor’s Degreerecommended) or equivalent work experience.
• Formal training in a technical certificate program.
• Technical training in the oil and gas industry or associated industry.
• Mastery of core competencies, advanced special tooling, engine & compressor theory, OEM and Non-OEM, etc.
• Mastery of product documentation, engineering standards, blueprints, drawings, schematics, etc.
• Mastery of advanced leadership skills and engine balancing techniques.
• Safety-focused, service-oriented, and business-focused mindset.
• Ability to multitask successfully and adapt quickly to changing needs.
• Mature with the ability to take and provide direction on the fly.
• Professional administrative and organizational skills.
