Job summary

Socket Telecom seeks a skilled Field Service Technician III to join our team, performing expert onsite installations for residential customers as they connect to our fiber network. Travel to service areas is required, and work occurs in diverse conditions across Missouri markets.

You will install and configure customer equipment, diagnose connectivity issues, and complete documentation while upholding Socket's safety standards and commitment to excellent service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant experience in telecommunications, installation, construction, and utility work.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Comfortable in underground and aerial environments (climbing ladders up to 32ft, bucket truck).
• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Lift up to 70 lbs and operate bucket truck weighing up to 300 lbs.
• Flexible schedule including Saturdays and/or Sundays.
• Willingness to obtain class E license if offered.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent installations and repairs for residential and business internet and phone services.
• Install and configure customer equipment, including routers, modems, and Wi-Fi gateways.
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience by remaining professional, friendly, and knowledgeable during service visits.
• Diagnose and resolve connectivity and service issues with accuracy and efficiency.
• Install, terminate, and test network cabling, adhering to codes and standards.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation of service activities.
• Safely operate company vehicles and equipment in accordance with safety protocols and DOT/OSHA regulations.
• Maintain a clean driving record and represent Socket in the field.

Socket is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician III to join our talented workforce. In this role, you'll deliver expert onsite installation services for residential customers. You’ll play a key role in ensuring a seamless experience for our customers as they connect to Socket's fiber network. This role will require travel to our various service areas and will be required to work in most conditions.

This position supports service areas across our expanding Missouri markets.

Experience/Knowledge Required:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant experience in telecommunications, installation, construction, and utility work
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Comfortable and able to work in both underground and aerial environments (e.g., climbing ladders up to 32ft and operating a bucket truck).
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
• Able to enter and safely operate a bucket truck with a weight limit of 300 lbs.
• Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work on Saturdays and/or Sundays.
• Willingness to obtain a class E license if offered

Preferences:

• Demonstrated experience with CAT3 and CAT5 cabling, including installation, termination, and testing.
• Working knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies and basic networking principles.
• Ability to test and install customer ADSL/xDSL circuit orders with the appropriate local exchange carrier (LEC).
• Knowledge of cable pulling, terminations, closet buildouts, and compliance with building and fire codes.
