Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Field Service Technician II to join a wireless communications team. The role, located in Quincy, MA, involves installing, configuring, and repairing two‑way radio and wireless equipment, with travel regionally or overnight as needed.

You will interpret schematics and support on‑site troubleshooting while delivering strong customer service. The candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on experience with radio systems (Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex), knowledge

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience diagnosing, repairing, programming, and installing two‑way radio and wireless communications equipment.
• Experience with DAS/BDA systems, TCP/IP principles, and NIC programming is preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel regionally and/or overnight and support on‑call requirements.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair wireless communications equipment, including UHF/VHF and 800/900 MHz radio systems, dispatch consoles, BDA/DAS systems, microwave systems, wireless broadband devices, and related communications equipment
• Create and modify mid‑level radio programming codeplugs, including configurations with 12+ channels, multiple zones, and trunking
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues using test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, system analyzers, watt meters, TDRs/FDRs, and multimeters
• Interpret schematics, blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation to support system installation, troubleshooting, and repair
• Evaluate customer requirements and recommend appropriate communications equipment, hardware, and technical solutions
• Support base stations, repeaters, multicouplers, duplexers, battery backup systems, and related wireless communications infrastructure
• Provide professional customer service while supporting field installations, service calls, and on‑site troubleshooting
• Travel regionally and/or overnight as required and participate in on‑call support
