Job summary

Kodiak Gas Services invites applications for an intern-level Field Service Technician, Ignite - WyoTech. You will assist in running compression jobs, learn across field locations, and rotate through operations nationwide.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in a Technical School, pursuing Natural Gas Compression, with basic knowledge of gas processes and mechanics, strong teamwork, and willingness to travel up to 100%. A valid driver's license is required and safety training is emphasized.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from Technical School (Natural Gas Compression preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of gas processes and compressor packages.
  • Must read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in running compression jobs and support field operations.
  • Troubleshoot basic issues and build troubleshooting skills.
  • Attend all HSE meetings and follow safety protocols.
  • Complete reports per operating procedures.
  • Travel up to 100% of the time.

Field Service Technician, Ignite - WyoTech

The KGS Development Program is a 4-month developmental program that provides cross-functional, hands‑on exposure in the field to deliver a holistic view of Kodiak's business. You'll spend time rotating through various field locations as well as support areas such as supply chain, set‑crew, overhaul and more. You'll also receive enhanced training and development to prepare you for your future with Kodiak!

  • Rotate through the functional areas within the field operations throughout the country
  • Participate in the Kodiak Safety Programs and proactively uphold the KGS Safety Culture
  • Train and operate mechanical equipment under the supervision of mentors
Position Summary

Intern‑level position that assists in the running of one or more compression jobs. Has entry‑level diagnostic and repair skills. Is currently enrolled or has recently graduated from a Technical School program or similar.

  • Performs job activities in a manner consistent with Kodiak’s procedures/protocols, goals and objectives.
  • Assists with troubleshooting basic issues and is consistently building troubleshooting skill set.
  • Attendance and participation in all HSE meetings and ensure adherence to all HSE protocols.
  • Completes the proper reports and actions required by the area’s operating procedures/policies
  • Additional tasks as assigned.
  • Travel required up to 100% of the time
Education, Experience and Training
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Is currently enrolled in a Technical School (Natural Gas Compression program preferred) or has recently graduated from a Technical School.
  • Some knowledge in gas processes, mechanics of motor compressors (Waukesha, Ariel, Caterpillar, etc.)
  • Main competencies: teamwork, effective communication, both written and oral, analytical capability, Strong mechanical aptitude, self‑motivation and self‑control, initiative, planning and problem‑solving, and customer focus.
  • Possess basic knowledge of compressor packages, including some components and systems
  • Working knowledge of relevant HSE procedures and regulations
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English required
Certifications
  • Valid Driver’s License, with Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) within the acceptable parameters of Company Policy, required.
Physical Demands
  • Requires operation of heavy equipment
  • Requires employee to stand for up to 75% of the time
  • Requires employee to sit for up to 25% of the time
  • Requires employee to climb ladders or stairs to inspecting, repairing, and painting equipment and must be able to maintain balance on stairs and/or ladders without assistance
  • Must be able to communicate and respond to coworkers, customers, and emergency cues/alarms, in person and on the telephone, including use of mobile devices
  • Must be able to frequently lift at least 10 pounds, infrequent lifting of > 50 lbs.
  • High noise environment (>85dbA) will occur with ear protection
  • Potential, controlled, exposure to hazardous chemicals
  • Requires work in outdoor conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold.
  • Requires moving and maintaining self in different positions—stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
  • Must wear all required PPE, including fire‑retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel‑toed boots
  • Requires an employee to frequently type and use computer and other office equipment such as a copier, printer, calendar, telephone, etc.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and occasional long or irregular hours
  • Travel requirements, up to 100% of the time
