Job summary

Clean Harbors in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Field Services Technician I to join our safety-conscious team. The role is field-based and responsible for hazardous waste clean-up, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.

Shift: 2nd Shift – 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. New hires will attend a paid two-week Academy training (may be out of state); company pays expenses.

Qualifications

  • Must pass background check, drug test, and physical.
  • Able to be on-call for emergency response; may work weekends/holidays/extended hours.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety policies and work safely to protect health.
  • Perform physical labor including lifting/heavy objects.
  • Operate light and heavy equipment and use hand/power tools.
  • Wear and use PPE properly and in various conditions.
  • Participate in site remediation and hazardous material handling.
  • Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis.

Clean Harbors in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Field Services Technician I to join our safety‑conscious team. The role is field‑based and responsible for hazardous waste clean‑up, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure health and safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting safely.
  • Engage in strenuous physical labor, including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
  • Operate light and heavy equipment, handle various hand tools and powered industrial tools, work with vibration‑producing tools.
  • Wear and properly use a variety of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, and clothing in multiple combinations.
  • Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Work in atmospheres and locations with exposure to chemical and physical agents, some of which may be hazardous, toxic, or corrosive.
  • Work in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, and low‑clearance areas.
  • Work at elevations, including from ladders and scaffolding.
  • Assist in field sampling activities and meter calibration.
  • Climb ladders, scaffolding, and into/out of trucks, tanks, and containers.
  • Work extended periods (>8 hrs).
  • Attend all compliance and safety update meetings.
  • Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Safely load and unload hazardous and non‑hazardous waste.
  • Conduct waste‑stream sampling and profiling as needed.
  • Follow all local, state (provincial), and federal compliance regulations and rules.
  • Safely operate vehicles per U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial), and federal requirements.
  • Observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures.
  • Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Be on call for emergency response on rotating basis every other week.
  • Participate in site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.
Required Qualifications
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to perform physical functions per key responsibilities.
  • Agree to be on‑call for emergency response; may work weekends, holidays, and extend beyond 8 hrs up to 12–24 hrs.
  • Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical.
  • Meet facial hair standards per OSHA’s Respiratory Protection standard, 29 CFR 1910.34.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Previous relevant labor experience.
