Job summary

Veolia North America is seeking a skilled technician to perform customer service-related work on Delhi’s District Steam System, encompassing mechanical, piping, controls and HVAC systems. The role involves installation, repair and troubleshooting of equipment, with emphasis on steam, hot water and chilled water components.

Expect duties including testing and maintaining major steam and heat systems, documenting work, and preparing estimates.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• 5+ years of experience in trades in a field service role.
• Must be trained or willing to be trained as an Associated Asbestos Worker.
• Must have a LA driver’s license with Class 3 and a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• All activities covered under Mechanic I.
• Perform soldering, burning and service/repairs (valve rebuilding, repacking, replacement) and read mechanical prints; understand steam, hot water, chilled water, and HVAC distribution and basic controls.
• Test, repair, replace and service major steam, condensate, hot water and chilled water components (pumps, PRVs, steam traps, heat exchangers, hot water systems).
• Use conventional tools/meters to maintain, repair, calibrate and test components.
• Prepare technical reports describing conditions and work performed.
• Prepare service documentation for billing and completion of orders.
• Prepare work scope and price estimates for project work; maintain good customer relations and promote company image.

Job Description

Position Purpose

Performs a variety of customer service-related work in mechanical, piping, controls and HVAC Chilled Water and Hydronic Heating Systems. The service work includes but is not limited to installation, repair and troubleshooting, and maintenance of customer equipment presently on Delhi’s District Steam System.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• All activities covered under Mechanic I.


• Ability to perform soldering, burning and to conduct service and repairs such as valve rebuilding, repacking and replacement, reading and interpreting mechanical prints, understanding principles and components of steam, hot water, chilled water and HVAC distribution and basic controls.


• To test, repair, replace and service major steam, condensate, hot water and chilled water components such as pumps, PRV’s, steam traps, heat exchangers and hot water systems.


• Proficient understanding and use of all conventional tools and meters to maintain, repair, calibrate and test components found in the systems described above.


• Prepare technical reports to accurately describe conditions and work performed.


• Prepares appropriate service documentation for billing and completion of service orders.


• Prepare work scope and price estimates for project work. 8. Maintain and develop good customer relations while promoting the image of the company.

Work Environment

• Required to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, scaffolding and stairs.


• Required to work in all weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background

• High School Diploma/GED is required.


• 5 plus years of experience working in the trades in a field service role.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Required to be trained or already trained as an Associated Asbestos Worker to perform related duties.


• Required adhering to customer and facility rules and regulations.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training

• Requires no less than the following licenses: (1) Journeyman Pipefitter (2) Refrigeration Technician (HVAC) (3) either Electrician or Plumber.


• Must also have a LA driver’s license, minimum Class 3 and safe driving record.

Physical Requirements

• Required to wear a half face respirator or powered air respirators (PAPR) where proper safety procedures warrant their use.


• Required to lift and / or operate machinery, tools, etc., weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
