PDS Tech Commercial is hiring a Field Service Technician for a long-term gas meter installation project in Nashville, TN. This hands-on, outdoor role involves replacing meters, safety inspections, and customer interaction.

You will work a 1st shift, Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime. The position requires a valid driver's license, ability to pass background/MVR/drug tests, and physical stamina for outdoor work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to pass background, MVR, and drug screenings.
• Comfort working outdoors up to 10+ hours daily in all weather conditions.
• Able to walk, climb, kneel, stoop and perform physical labor.

Responsibilities

• Remove and install residential gas meters and regulators.
• Read meters and document meter information.
• Build meter loops and perform final meter testing.
• Conduct gas leak testing with company equipment.
• Identify and repair minor gas leaks.
• Shut down and relight residential gas appliances.
• Complete installation documentation on handheld device.
• Communicate professionally with customers.
• Meet daily productivity goals with safety and quality.

Field Service Technician - Gas Meter Installation

Location: Nashville, TN

Pay: $22.00 hour

Shift: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday (Overtime Available)

Project Duration: Long-Term Project (2+ Years Potential)

PDS Tech Commercial is hiring Field Service Technicians to support a major residential gas meter replacement project. This is a hands‑on, outdoor role working independently in the field replacing gas meters, performing safety inspections, documenting installations, and interacting with customers.

What You'll Do

• Remove and install residential gas meters and regulators
• Read existing meters and document meter information
• Build meter loops and perform final meter testing
• Conduct gas leak testing using company-provided equipment
• Identify and repair minor gas leaks
• Shut down and safely relight residential gas appliances
• Identify abnormal or hazardous operating conditions
• Complete installation documentation using a handheld device
• Communicate professionally with customers
• Meet daily productivity goals while maintaining safety and quality standards

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Ability to pass:
• Background check
• Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
• DOT PHMSA-compliant drug screen
• Pre-employment assessments
• Ability to work outdoors up to 10+ hours per day in all weather conditions
• Ability to walk, climb, kneel, stoop, and perform physical labor
• Ability to use hand tools and exert up to 30 lbs. of force
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage daily workloads

Preferred Qualifications

• Natural gas field service experience
• Gas meter installation or repair experience
• Utility, construction, mechanical, or field service experience
• Familiarity with gas appliance operation and relighting procedures
• Experience using handheld devices, tablets, or basic software applications

Pay Details: $22.00 per hour
