3 days ago Requisition ID: 1072

JDC Power Systems, LLC, is seeking a motivated Field Service Technician (FSR2B) to join our team and support our customers' field operations. At this level a technician works without supervision on Level 2 scope, supports Level 3 work with minimal oversight, participates actively in energization activities within assigned scope, when trained, qualified, and authorized, and is the point of reference for the technicians around them. This level provides developmental preparation for technicians who may be considered for future project-lead responsibilities based on performance, business need, and demonstrated readiness. Level 2 and Level 3 work refer to JDC's internal field service inspection, testing, commissioning, and authorization structure. Assignment of work remains subject to demonstrated competency, training completion, and applicable safety authorization.

Key Responsibilities

Field Service Support:

  • Execute Level 2 inspections and tasks without supervision.
  • Support Level 3 work with minimal oversight.
  • Participate actively in energization procedures.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, including problems that do not present in an obvious way.

Customer Interaction & Support:

  • Act as a technical point of contact on site within your scope and keep the project lead informed.
  • Produce clear and accurate test reports, as-left documentation and field action reports.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Plan and sequence your own work and help the crew keep to the schedule.
  • Identify tooling, parts and resource needs early and raise them.
  • Maintain accurate records of service work, time tracking and equipment usage.

Teaching & Development:

  • Act as a point of reference on site for less experienced technicians, whatever their level.
  • Teach the tasks you perform independently and explain your reasoning so others can find the next answer themselves. Promote knowledge sharing across the field team by recognizing and using the experience of technicians with specialized equipment or system expertise, regardless of assigned tier.
  • Give honest, useful feedback to the technicians you work with.

Health & Safety Compliance:

  • Hold the standard on torque verification, as-left photos, interlock verification and documentation.
  • Run pre-task planning and contribute to the daily crew briefing.
  • Ensure all work complies with company safety protocols, OSHA guidelines and industry regulations.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field preferred.
  • Certifications such as NFPA 70E and OSHA 30 are a plus; medium voltage authorization preferred.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience as a field service technician with power systems, electrical equipment or industrial controls.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, maintaining and commissioning complex electrical systems.
  • Equivalent technical training, military experience, industry certifications, or demonstrated competency may be considered in place of the stated experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of switchgear, protective relays, control systems, communications and commissioning practice.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate unfamiliar systems and identify an appropriate path for escalation or resolution.
  • Ability to teach and mentor less experienced technicians.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, with overnight stays, to customer sites and JDC locations across the country.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard test equipment such as multimeters, breaker test sets and secondary injection equipment.
