Job summary

Thompson Machinery is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain Caterpillar diesel-powered construction equipment across our Middle Tennessee and North Mississippi region. You will work largely independently from a company-provided field service truck, servicing customer sites and shops.

Required experience with diagnostics, safety-conscious service, and strong communication; travel up to regional assignments, occasional overtime, and valid driver's license

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; technical training preferred.
• 5+ years of equipment diagnostics and advanced troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to travel regionally, with potential overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret manuals, safety guides, and procedures.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and high-quality repair service on construction equipment and engines.
• Travel within the assigned region; work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Maintain a current, valid driver’s license with a DOT medical card for operating service trucks.
• Work with basic industrial tools and test equipment to service equipment at customer sites.
