Job summary

McGrath is seeking a Field Service Technician to maintain modular equipment at the branch and customer sites. You will oversee on-site contractors, perform troubleshooting and routine maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

You will travel to locations with a company vehicle, read blueprints, and train customer employees on equipment upkeep. The role requires manual dexterity and the ability to work in varying weather.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in construction or related work required.
  • Basic electrical, plumbing, flooring and HVAC knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance, repairs and construction in plumbing, carpentry, painting, flooring, HVAC, roofing and electrical.
  • Oversee and train contractors at the branch and field locations.
  • Work independently at the branch and update leadership on progress daily.
  • Order supplies for location and service calls.
  • Ensure safety, quality and productivity at customer sites.
  • Operate company vehicle and read blueprints and work orders.

Field Service Technician

Full Time Regular Craft Workers Manchester, TN, Manchester, TN, US

Salary Range: $20.40 To $35.00 Hourly

The specific pay rate and level, if applicable, will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications, prior experience and location.

A Day In the Life

As a Field Service Technician you will maintain modular equipment at the branch and in the field at customer sites. You will oversee and train the contractors working on site at the branch. You will perform problem solving maintenance for but not limited to mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. You will also perform routine maintenance, cleaning and construction in the field of modular buildings. Update and record information on company assets and systems. Perform routine evaluations of work to be performed. Safely operate Company provided vehicle (<10,000lbs GVW) to travel to various locations and service modular and related equipment. Duties include installing and repairing equipment, and training customer employees on how to maintain machinery. Perform trial run of machinery to ensure performance rates and quality meet established specifications while delivering exceptional customer experiences.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance service, repairs and construction in areas of but not limited to plumbing, carpentry, painting, flooring, HVAC, roofing and electrical
  • Oversee and train the contractors working at the branch on the buildings.
  • Work independently at the branch while updating leadership on project progress daily.
  • Order supplies needed for the location and for service calls.
  • Responsible for the safety, quality and productivity of themselves at all customer locations
  • Responsible for positive interface with the customer and ensuring the company’s reputation is improved with every customer contact
  • Maintain inspection log(s) for equipment/vehicle and properly report exceptions; ensure equipment is maintained to Company and safety standards
  • Safely perform all tasks and understand Company’s safety policies and procedures
  • Participate in and practice 6S and Lean company initiative in the workplace
  • Deliver a high-quality output consistent with the Company’s construction standards
  • Operate Company vehicle
  • Read and understand blueprints, schematics, procedures and company specific work orders, work instructions and floor plans provided
  • Work outside in variable weather conditions
  • Use both manual and power tools and follow operating guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Must Haves
  • Prior experience in construction or related work required; basic electrical, plumbing, flooring and basic HVAC
  • Ability to communicate with customers regarding work status and service concerns
  • Valid driver’s license
Nice to Haves
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • HVAC training and experience combined with an EPA certification preferred
Special Considerations
  • Local travel and occasional overnight stays required
  • May be required to drive extended distances to customer sites
  • Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain physical activity for most of the day
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and hold or lift a variety of objects
    • Able to carry, bend, stoop, turn, kneel, crawl, climb a ladder and other manual labor activities
