Job summary

Airgas is hiring a Field Service Technician in Salt Lake City, UT to install and service nitrogen generation plants and bulk gas systems, following safety codes and policies.

You will work independently at Airgas plants and customer sites, supporting installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of cryogenic equipment, piping and pressure systems. A valid license, travel readiness, and strong communication are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of three years of relevant field service experience.
• U.S. work authorization; visa sponsorship not available.
• Ability to write routine reports and professional correspondence.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Experience operating forklift and maintaining required certifications.
• Willingness to travel with overnight stays.
• Ability to read and interpret process diagrams, MSDS, safety rules, and P&ID's.
• Professional communication with customers and vendors; maintain a professional appearance.
• Must pass required testing and obtain Medical Certificate and Brazing License.
• Ability to install piping and perform site surveys.

Responsibilities

• Perform site surveys to ensure compliance with codes.
• Maintain secure environments and protect installations from tampering.
• Conduct periodic preventative maintenance and annual inspections.
• Uphold safety policies; foster a secure workplace.
• Maintain stock of parts to restore typical installations.
• Collaborate on additional projects as needed.

The (Cryogenic) Field Service Technician is responsible for installing and servicing on-site nitrogen generation plants and bulk medical or industrial gas systems in a safe and operationally effective manner, in accordance with all federal, state/provincial and local codes, and Airgas policies.

• Supports the installation and upkeep of nitrogen on-site generation equipment.
• Supports cryogenic bulk installations both at Airgas facilities and customer sites.
• Restores and optimizes pressure reduction equipment associated with bulk delivery systems.
• Evaluates and provides solutions for electrical systems associated with N2 generation and cryogenic installations, including: motor controls and relays, low pressure, high pressure and liquid level alarm systems.
• Installs decals and warning signs for the proper identification of hazards, warnings, ownership, normal operational settings, emergency contacts, etc.
• Performs installation of piping systems in accordance with company SOP's.
• Performs Site Surveys to build alignment with all federal, state/provincial and local codes.
• Fosters a secure environment by providing fencing to protect installations from tampering or unauthorized entry.
• Performs periodic preventative maintenance tasks on N2 generation equipment based on the PM schedule.Performs annual inspections of all bulk installation sites to ensure their condition and excellent operation.
• Champions and upholds safety policies and procedures to nurture a secure workplace.
• Maintains an appropriate stock of recommended parts necessary to restore typical installations within the assigned customer base.
• Collaborates on additional projects as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• You will need a minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
• Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.
• Capability to write routine reports and professional correspondence.
• Experience and good skills with troubleshooting.
• Valid Drivers license is needed.
• Experience with operating a forklift and maintaining the necessary certifications.
• Will need to pass required testing and obtain Medical Certificate and Brazing License.
• Ability to travel with overnight stays
• Experience in the safe operation of both electrical and manual hand tools
• Ability to read, interpret, and produce detailed process diagrams for customer sites.
• Professional communication with customers and vendors; must maintain a professional appearance.
• Ability to read and interpret various documents, including MSDS, safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and P&ID's.
