Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Field Service Support Technician to perform installation, commissioning, and electromechanical troubleshooting on high voltage equipment across designated sites in the United States and abroad.

The role requires an Associate’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Technology and at least two years of related experience. Candidates must be able to read drawings and travel up to 80% of the time, with opportunities for bonuses based on performance.

Qualifications

  • Supervise and direct contractors and junior technicians.
  • Complete Field Service Reports, timecards and expense reports.
  • Interface between GE and customer.

Job Description Summary

Field Service Support Technician will perform Installation, Commissioning, Electromechanical Troubleshooting, Repair/Adjustments and Modifications to GE High Voltage Circuit Breakers, Disconnect Switches, Capacitor Banks.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform Installation and initial starts-ups.
  • Perform mechanical work in electrical substations.
  • Inspects equipment, structures, and materials at designated sites to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. Services, repairs, and adjusts, parts of equipment that operates largely based on mechanical principles.
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to select the best solution and resolve customer issues.
  • Performs physical activities that requires considerable dexterity and agility.
  • Support GE Factory Production and other GE Departments as needed.
  • Operate man lifts and reach fork truck.
  • Supervise and give direction to contractors, customer personnel and junior GE Field Technicians.
  • Complete paperwork in a timely and accurate manner including Field Service Reports, timecards and expense reports.
  • Interface between the GE and Customer.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Electrical and or Mechanical Technology or a highly related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience manufacturing (preference given to field experience).
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time within the US and abroad via air travel and car rental.
Desired Characteristics
  • Preferred experience in troubleshooting & repair of electrical control circuits.
  • Preferred experience in mechanical assembly of circuit breakers.
Pay and Bonuses
  • The hourly pay range for this position ranges from $36.00-$43.00/hour depending on experience, qualifications, and position level (Tech I or Tech II).
  • The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
  • This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity.
