Job summary

ZEISS is seeking a Field Service Technician for the San Francisco Bay Area. You will complete an extensive training program and then travel regionally to install, repair, troubleshoot, service and calibrate high-end measuring instruments.

You’ll document work and operate independently while representing ZEISS in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Requirements include GED or technical training, or a related degree, plus hands-on use of hand tools and electrical testing equipment.

Qualifications

• GED or equivalent is required or technical training is preferred.
• Technical degree or military tech training is a plus.
• Experience with hand tools and basic electrical test equipment is essential.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites within the region to install, repair, troubleshoot, service and calibrate instruments.
• Document service work and maintain accurate records.
• Work independently while representing ZEISS in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
• Complete a comprehensive training program before field work.

Location/Region: San Francisco Bay Area and the surrounding area.

Here’s What You’ll Do

• Engage in a comprehensive ~3 month in field and classroom training program to ensure you have the skills and tools to be successful.
• Once trained, you will travel to customer sites in your region to Install, Repair, Troubleshoot, Service and Calibrate the most advanced measuring instruments in the world.
• Work hands on to learn new skills on high tech CMM’s (Coordinate Measuring Machines) utilizing mechanical and electronic aptitude.
• Document service work and maintain accurate service records.
• Work independently while representing the company in a fast-paced and innovative environment.

What We Are Looking For

• Minimum, High School graduate, completed GED or equivalent.
• Or, Tech School, associate, or bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as, Electronics, Industrial Mechanics, and the like.
• Or, Training and experience from a Military Technical School.
• Prior experience working with hand tools and basic electrical test equipment.
• Microsoft operating system knowledge is required.
• Capable of unassisted physical lift of one article weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Able and willing to work minimum of 50 hours per work week. Regular + OT.
• Ability to work in an industrial production shop floor environment.
• Valid Driver License required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience installing and troubleshooting industrial electronics, machines, or computer systems.
• Previous CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) installation and troubleshooting experience is preferred however not required.

Variables Include

• Competitive Base pay
• OT: Average OT is 10 hours a week and paid out at time and half - we basically pay for your travel time!
• Annual bonus program: - eligible for an additional bonus at the end of the year.
• Company vehicle - can use it for personal use as well!

The annual pay range for this position is $52,000 - 65,000

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.
