Job summary

Windstream Holdings, Inc. seeks a field technician to install buried copper, fiber, and coaxial drop cables from the hub to customers’ homes. You will interpret drawings, complete paperwork, and use hand-held computers to manage tasks.

Responsibilities include operating trenching equipment, training new staff, and promoting Windstream products and services. A valid driver’s license and physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• Able to perform tasks requiring basic technology and math skills.
• Color discernment for color-coded cables.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 70 pounds.
• Willingness to work overtime, call-outs, and standby as needed.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

Job Summary

Windstream Holdings, Inc. is a leading provider of advanced network communications and technology solutions across the United States. As a Windstream technician working on the buried drop team, you will perform the physical installation of buried copper, fiber and coaxial cable from the network hub to the customers’ residences.

Responsibilities

• Perform the physical installation of buried copper, fiber & coaxial drop cable to connect Windstream’s network to customers’ residences.
• Interpret work drawings and complete required paperwork.
• Operate hand‑held computers to retrieve and clear job tasks.
• Operate trenching and boring equipment for burying cable.
• Train new employees on daily job functions.
• Sell and promote Windstream products and services to customers.

Qualifications

• Ability to walk ½ mile or more while operating drop plow.
• Physical strength: lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
• Ability to work a schedule that includes overtime, call‑outs, and standby as needed.
• Basic technology and math skills.
• Ability to distinguish colors in color‑coded cable.
• A valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Ability to pass pre‑employment DOT physical.

Physical Demands

• Standing continuously – 67‑100% of the time.
• Walking continuously – 67‑100% of the time.
• Climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 70 pounds required throughout the shift.
• Ability to handle repetitive hand actions and operate equipment that requires foot control.
