Job summary

Downing USA in Oklahoma City, OK, is seeking a Field Service Technician to install, test, repair and maintain surface wellhead and frac equipment. The role involves reading blueprints, documenting service work, and traveling to customer sites with a valid license.

You will troubleshoot field equipment, perform repairs on valves, actuators, and spools, and ensure high customer satisfaction through timely, knowledgeable service in a shop and field environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; two years of related experience preferred.
• Experience with conventional wellhead equipment is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Installs and tests equipment in accordance with operating procedures and communicates with customer.
• Makes repairs to customer property and rental assets including valves and wellheads.
• Assembles and disassembles new and used equipment.
• Provides feedback through reporting problems and failures to appropriate personnel for resolution.
• Prepares service orders, tickets, and documentation; reads blueprints and drawings.
• Maintains high customer satisfaction by providing timely and knowledgeable service.
• Performs general shop maintenance: storage and equipment clean-up.
• Tear down and troubleshooting of customer-owned property for inspection, repair, reassembly and testing.
• Assembling, testing and painting of new or used wellhead/tree sections.
• Travel required (valid driver’s license required).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Field Service Technician

What is a Field Service Technician?
Installs, maintains, and repairs surface wellhead and frac equipment consisting of API 6A Gate Valves, chokes, casing, and tubing heads and spools, conventional and multi-bowl wellheads in both the field and shop environments.

In this role, you will:

• Installs and tests equipment in accordance with operating procedures - inspecting condition and communicating information with customer
• Making repairs to customer property and rental assets including valves, wellheads, spools, chokes, actuators, and other surface wellhead equipment as required
• Assembling and breaking down of new and used equipment
• Provides feedback to the company through reporting of problems and failures to appropriate personnel for resolution
• Prepares service order, tickets, and customer related documentation accurately and completely Reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings
• Maintain high customer satisfaction by providing timely and knowledgeable service
• Executing general shop maintenance: Storage and equipment clean‑up
• Tear down and troubleshooting of customer owned property for inspection, repair reassembly and testing based on customer communications
• Assembling, testing, and painting of new or used wellhead/tree sections
• Travel required (must possess a valid driver’s license and meet the company driver requirement to operate a company vehicle while traveling)
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required and Preferred Experience:

• Knowledge of conventional wellhead equipment and valve installation, operation, maintenance, and repair
• Use of service tools, gate valves and actuators
• Conventional completions
• Troubleshoot field equipment and products
• Sound reasoning and problem solving
• Operate PBMO and Full Hydraulic Lubricators a plus
• Electronic Submergible Systems
• Multi-Bowl Systems (with LDS)
• Wellhead Latch Systems

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear
• Additionally, employee must be able to operate, handle, and lift shop equipment and tools up to 30 lbs. (SEF Energy employees shall not manually lift an item weighing more than 50 lbs., they shall utilize mechanical assistance devices. If mechanical assistance devices are not available, utilize a team lift.)
• Clearly hear voices or alarms, bells, and other noises
• Be able to work in outdoor conditions such as heat, cold, wet, and be exposed to dust, fumes and other airborne particles, and loud noises

Education:

• High School Diploma, equivalent or two years of related experience and/or training
