Job summary

Mettler-Toledo, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician to service floor and bench scales at customer sites within the assigned region. You will perform preventive maintenance, calibrations, basic repairs, and end-user training while documenting work in our service software.

You will travel to customer locations, maintain safety and quality standards, and collaborate with a team to meet uptime targets. A valid driver’s license and a HS diploma or equivalent are required.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required and acceptable driving record.
• High School Diploma or GED; or 5 years relevant work experience.
• Customer-facing or field service experience preferred.
• Basic electrical and mechanical repair knowledge; PC networking.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance and calibration on weighing equipment at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot basic issues and support installations and repairs with senior techs.
• Provide end-user training on equipment operation and care.
• Document work in service software and maintain data in records.
• Coordinate with Scheduling, Support, Sales, and technicians to meet uptime goals.
• Maintain company vehicle and parts inventory in a clean, compliant manner.
• Identify service or product needs and submit suitable sales leads.
• Follow safety and quality policies in all environments.

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

As a Field Service Technician, you will be the on-site expert customers rely on to keep their floor and bench scales running safely, accurately, and efficiently. You will perform preventative maintenance, calibrations, and basic repairs while representing the company professionally at customer locations across your assigned region.

What you will do

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and calibration on industrial weighing equipment (primarily floor scales and bench scales) at customer sites, following established procedures and safety standards.
• Troubleshoot basic issues and support installations, projects, and repairs as needed, partnering with more experienced technicians when required.
• Provide end-user training so operators understand how to use and care for their equipment correctly.
• Use a company laptop and service software to document work performed, update service records, and maintain data integrity in the service database each day.
• Communicate closely with the Scheduling Analyst, Service Support Team, sales, and fellow technicians to meet customer uptime and response-time expectations.
• Maintain your company vehicle and assigned parts inventory in a clean, organized, and compliant manner.
• Support service revenue by identifying service or product needs and submitting sales leads in line with your experience level.
• Follow all company, customer, safety, and quality policies to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and others.

What You Need to Succeed

• Valid driver's license required.
• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED, or 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Customer-facing or field service experience preferred; commercial experience desired.
• Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical repair philosophies, including PC networking and software configuration.
• 1 to 3 years of electro/mechanical repair or weighing industry experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Weights and Measures license; failure to do so may result in termination.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to learn proprietary software and update information using METTLER TOLEDO programs.
• Willingness and ability to travel overnight up to 10% on average, potentially up to 25%, primarily by company vehicle or plane.
• Must reside within the service territory.
• Ability to work overtime averaging 10-15%, possibly up to 25%.
• Willingness to work in environments with hazards such as chemicals, solvents, vehicle traffic, machinery, dust, dirt, cold, and fumes.
• Willingness to wear protective equipment and clothing when required.
• Position is safety sensitive and subject to drug testing.
• Physical ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally handle heavier loads by carrying, pushing, or pulling.
• Frequent physical movements required such as crouching, stooping, kneeling, and repeated bending for safe and efficient job performance.
