Job summary

Tesco Controls, a UFT company, seeks a Field Service Technician to support water and wastewater infrastructure across the United States. You will configure VFDs, troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems, and participate in start‑up and commissioning activities.

The role requires travel, on‑call availability, and a strong background in electrical instrumentation. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential in this field service position.

Qualifications

  • Profibus qualified.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • High level of organizational and time management skills.
  • Reading, writing, and understanding English language.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Available for 24‑hour on‑call shifts.
  • College degree preferred or high school with relevant experience.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Experience completing required paperwork associated with instrumentation calibration duties.
  • Experience reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Experience writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Experience speaking effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Understanding and practice of AC/DC voltage measurement.
  • DC current measurement.
  • Daily travel.

Responsibilities

  • Configure parameters and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems using electrical ladder schematics.
  • Calibrate, trace, and correct control loop malfunctions; participate in maintenance and production concerning instrument systems.
  • Verify accuracy of gauges and measuring instruments such as pressure, flow, temperature, pH, turbidity, and conductivity; document failure rates on specified equipment.
  • Start‑up commissioning pump/motor controls.
  • Perform loop checks from field to monitoring devices.
  • Inspect, commission, and calibrate instrumentation (pressure/level/flow).
  • Inspect, commission, and calibrate analytical sensors (pH/chlorine/turbidity).
  • Troubleshoot electrical/control logic.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation (pressure/level/flow).
  • Wire modifications to panels per drawings.
  • Site installations of electrical devices/motor controls.
  • Repair, test, adjust, or install electronic equipment such as industrial controls, transmitters, HMI, VFD, and PLCs.
  • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components.
  • Other duties as required.
