United Rentals, Inc. is seeking a skilled Road Service Utility Truck Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team.

You will inspect, diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline vehicles and specialized utility equipment, with a focus on buckets and hydraulic systems, while maintaining safety and quality standards. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting complex systems, welding as needed, and maintaining thorough service records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of heavy‑duty diesel or truck mechanic experience with buckets and hydraulic systems.
• CDL with endorsements required or must be obtained.
• Experience with utility equipment including cranes, pulling and stringing equipment and dielectric testing equipment is a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Commitment to safety and organized work environment.
• Some overnight travel to projects farther away.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel and gasoline vehicles and heavy equipment (dump trucks, bucket trucks, etc.).
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and braking systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance: oil changes, tire service, lubrication.
• Use diagnostic software and manuals to identify faults and determine action.
• Welding and fabrication for repairs and modifications as needed.
• Maintain accurate service records and repair logs.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures, including DOT and dielectric testing.

United Rentals Commercial and Utility Trucks is seeking a skilled and dedicated Road Service Utility Truck Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team. If you are a seasoned heavy‑duty mechanic with expertise in buckets, pulling and stringing, diesel, and hydraulic systems and have a commitment to safety and quality, we want to talk to you. You'll be responsible for ensuring our fleet of utility and service vehicles is maintained to the highest standards, playing a critical role in keeping our operations running smoothly.

What you’ll do:

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide variety of diesel and gasoline‑powered vehicles and heavy equipment, such as dump trucks, bucket trucks, and specialty utility vehicles.
• Troubleshoot and repair complex issues within hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and braking systems.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance, including oil changes, tire service, and lubrication, to maximize fleet longevity and performance.
• Utilize diagnostic software and technical manuals to identify malfunctions and determine the best course of action.
• Perform welding and fabrication for equipment repair and modification as needed.
• Maintain accurate and timely service records, repair logs, and documentation.
• Ensure all work complies with federal, state, and company safety standards and procedures.
• Perform annual DOT and Dielectric testing on insulated equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience as a heavy‑duty diesel or truck mechanic, with hands‑on experience on buckets and hydraulic systems.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with relevant endorsements is required or must be obtained.
• Experience with a wide range of utility equipment is a plus, including cranes, pulling and stringing equipment and dielectric testing equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as a team.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
• Will require some overnight travel to projects farther away.
• Company service vehicle, phone, laptop and any other needed tools for the job will be supplied by United Rentals.

• Assurer l’entretien et la réparation de systèmes mécaniques, électriques, hydrauliques et diesel complexes sur une vaste gamme d’outils et d’équipements de location ou de clients, tout en faisant preuve d’une grande indépendance de jugement.
• Se rendre sur le lieu de travail du client pour réparer ou entretenir son matériel ou celui qu’il a loué (vous serez chargé de veiller à la propreté et au caractère présentable du véhicule de service).
• Participer à la formation des techniciens subalternes, au besoin.
• Tenir à jour la documentation écrite ou électronique associée aux travaux effectués (bons de travail) de manière exhaustive chaque jour dans les délais prescrits.
• Participer au ramassage et à la livraison des équipements et des pièces.
• Réaliser les autres tâches demandées en fonction des besoins.

Exigences du poste:

• Diplôme d’études secondaires ou équivalent.
• Permis de conduire valide assorti d’un dossier de conduite jugé acceptable.
• Expérience de plus de cinq ans en réparation ou en entretien d’équipements et d’outils.
• Compétences avancées en mécanique et connaissance pratique des outils.
• Connaissance approfondie des équipements de construction et compréhension avancée des schémas et des diagrammes.
• Possession des outils applicables au poste obligatoire.
• Service à la clientèle de qualité supérieure, esprit d’équipe et capacité à communiquer aussi bien à l’oral qu’à l’écrit.
• Capacité à soulever fréquemment des objets pouvant peser jusqu’à 20 kg (45 lb).
